I only played with the EVO for a day when it was first released, so as far as I can remember there really isn't much difference in reading text. The EVO's SLIGHTLY larger screen might give it a little advantage, but the contrast on Epic is a little better.

Any screen with a dark background and light text, the Epic would probably win...

I like my Evo screen better as for dark backgrounds they dont show so well on the Epic. Overall your right not much difference.

Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful) is the motto of the Corps. That Marines have lived up to this motto is proved by the fact that there has never been a mutiny, or even the thought of one, among U.S. Marines.

Also,
If anyone is interested, our review was published today:
http://bit.ly/cqvlDJ

We write more "lifestyle" articles on devices than putting tons of stats, but if you're interested in Epic, there are also a lot of pictures.

Re: Loving The Epic 4G

Depending on how quick sprint lets employees get these I may get one with my upgrade and flip it on ebay. Or I may just do it with an evo... if they ever come available.

I dunno... If you're already rocking an EVO, it'd be kinda nice to have one of each... I'd be tempted to schnag an Epic and just keep it...

Well, except in battery life. Pure black on an AMOLED screen doesn't use any juice, so a background with more black in it should theoretically be a battery saver on the Epic (or any AMOLED screen). I haven't had my Epic long enough to test this, but that's the theory.

Truthfully I can't tell any difference on static backgrounds. I'm sure there is a technical benefit between dark and bright backgrounds, but it hasn't been noticeable.
"Live" wallpapers do suck more juice though...
