Easier way is
Before you follow the directions disable your
time sync with network automatically. (Start - Settings - Personal - Phone - Services Tab - Time Synchronization/Get Settings - Uncheck the box.)

1. Uninstall the game completely.
2. Soft reset phone.
3. Change the PPC date to Dec 29, 2007
4. Reinstall the game
5. Start game.
6. Update songs.

Then just keep it installed on your SD card and you never have to mess with it again. Even after a hard reset. Just my opinion.

The game is now like 7.00 for a 1 time subscription.

I gave this a solid effort for about 2hrs on my HTC Diamond w/ grooveRom3 build 12. I read through every single post and tried everything. I even torrented a few versions to try those. I've changed the device name several times, soft reset countless times and reverted my date, still won't work. It'll start for <1second, than go away.
