Biggest negatives on the TP2 for me are

#1 Crappy Camera with no flash
#2 Horrid battery life

I would assume the camera will be better on the Droid , at least it cant be worse than the TP2 camera , and if anything at least you gain dual led flash. And I have no idea what the battery stamina is supposed to be on the Droid. I sure would like to know if anybody can comment.

I gotta disagree. I think the camera on the TP2 is great, a vast improvement over its predecessor for sure. Its fast, and takes clear pictures, regardless of the lighting. Sure the lack of a flash kinda sucks, but I think the camera is good. As far as battery, I can make it easily through the day with a fair amount of usage, though I keep push email turned off as this seems to be the biggest battery drain, something I've noticed on all of my phones...

The consensus seems to be that the TP2 camera is not up to par with its predecessor and I would have to agree. I am happy you are satisfied with your TP2's camera but mine is leaving a bad taste in my mouth

And as far as the battery life , I cannot seem to make it through the day on a single charge with this TP2 and its a bummer. Today I made it for exactly 7 hours and 59 minutes , it died right at 5pm and left me hanging for a couple hours before I could be home

Looks like the Droid has a bigger screen (3.7") and smaller battery (1400mAh) so this cant end well for me. I know with my TP I had to have an extra battery on hand and just swap it out mid day. I was hoping not to have to do that route again.

Honestly the TP2 is probably slighty better because HTC makes better phones. I never did like Motorolas really.

TP2 versus the Driod?

What would be the advantages to each device? I have the TP2 but if it is worthwhile to change while still under my thirty day grace, I might. I know this is the TP2 forum, but most of you are knowledgeable enough to know about what I am asking. Thanks

I don't believe anybody would be able to answer that for you, it will be personal preference. The droids run a completely different OS so its up to the consumer to decide which OS best fits their needs. In the very end you should be able to accomplish the same end result, its just a matter of how you get there. I can't say mercedes is better then bmw because basically they are the same but its personal preference. republicans and democrat is another example, which ever side you fall on you will think you are right.

Re: TP2 versus the Driod?

I saw this same question asked on XDA as well. I personally think they accomplish alot of the same things but just a different way of doing it. I will say that I love the new "free" Google Navigation that comes with the droid, but I am sticking with my TP2. It does exactly what I need it to do and looks good, so there is no need to change. We sometimes don't realize what we have until we don't so I'm content.

Re: TP2 versus the Driod?

Droid Pros
  • Larger higher resolution capacitive touch screen
  • Better processor w/ a dedicated GPU
  • One of the thinnest keyboard phones out
  • Built in webkit browser
  • Tempered glass metal construction
  • Android OS with a huge development team behind it that is constantly pushing out updates unlike Microsoft.
  • Built in Google Navigation w/ Turn by Turn directions
Droid Cons

Slow subpar camera according to reviewers
Mediocre keyboard

Touch Pro 2 Pros

  • Windows Mobile
  • Flash Custom Roms
  • Better Speakerphone set up
Touch Pro 2 Cons

  • Windows Mobile (gotta be fair)
  • Having to depend on cooks for updates
  • Plastic, more plastic, with a side of....PLASTIC
  • Plastic resistive touch screen
  • Same slow Qualcomm 72xx CPU
I think I pretty much covered everything.

Re: TP2 versus the Driod?

Mine would be simple.

You can put Android, iphone, Sambian, WebOS or any OS you want on it.

Disadvantage:
* No warez
* Why would I want to learn a new OS?

Advantage WM:
* Tons of warez

Done.
