No it's not the worst analogy, it's actually a VERY GOOD analogy. The water is the data, the bucket is my SD card, and the house is my PC. I'm paying for the data plain and simple.

You're not paying for "the data," you're paying for a service agreement regarding data usage.

Heck, I do the same thing on occasion when my cable broadband goes down and I need some net access, but I don't pretend I'm not cheating my wireless provider on it.

No, its not.

Better analogy.

Its kind of like paying for basic cable and then going into your box and hacking it to get HBO channels as well.

You're "Paying for Cable" so why shouldn't you get all the cable for free right? Sure you have to do some hacking to bypass things becuase its a service they want you to pay for, but by god you pay for cable so you should get cable...all of Cable.

The poster above is right. Unlimited Data is unlimited data for your handset, not for use as a modem. Use as a modem is a seperate charge. There's a reason you need a HACK to be able to use it and that reason isn't because "its perfectly fine and sprint doesn't care at all". Its because you're using it to take something you're not paying for, aka the ability to use the phone as a modem.

NOW

Whether or not you care about stealing is a different matter. If you feel that the unlimited plan is a ripoff if you don't also include tethering in the mix and that somehow justifies your theft from the greedy corporation, more power to you. But you're using what's essentially a hack to get a service for free that you would legally need to pay for...that's theft.

No way, my analogy was way better. Yours sucks horse peepee.

It's not like the tethering hack we did gave us access to new parts of the web or data we otherwise wouldn't have access to on our handset.

Your analogy is on to something. I'd say the cable version should go like: I pay for cable, I have a box I rent. I want basic cable in another room with TV but dont want to pay extra for a box to view channels I can already see, so I split the cable at the box outside of my house and run it to the room's TV. (This btw is ok with comcast LOL)

edit:
ok fine it's crooked. I don't agree with Sprint selling it, but the fact that they do sell it the way they do and I get access the way I do, I suppose I am stealing. BUT I'M JUST STEALING FROM A THIEF :D

ok back on topic sorry
