Re: Diamond vs Storm
umm, if you were to post this same question (diamond vs storm) at crackberry or some other blackberry phone site, you would get everyone saying definitely go for the storm, and they would be pointing out things they see as flaws for the diamond.
i like my diamond better than anyone phone available to me right now because it is sleek, and it fits in my pocket (unlike my titan, which looked like i was carrying 3 or 4 decks of cards in my pocket). i have opera, where i can use tabbed browsing. i can open word docuements, or powerpoints. and, more generally, windows mobile has better apps made for the phone (many free) and tons of themes for the phone (many free). updating your OS is much faster on wm too. |

Re: Diamond vs Storm
i agree. posting this in a ppc forum is going to get u very very biased responses. I have seen the storm and tried it out and i think its a great concept but yes, the damn thing blows big time. Diamond for me all the way

Re: Diamond vs Storm
I own neither, but am a reviewer and have extensively used and reviewed both units. The Storm was a huge letdown; in my opinion the theory was solid but execution horribly flawed. The BlackBerry OS has always been good but never great, and the Storm doesn't improve on anything in this regard. Most importantly, though, as has been brought up the keyboard is awful. Typing on it is a workout, and on top of that it is far from accurate. The media aspects of the Storm are very good, but they do not make up for the shortcomings.
The Diamond is one of the better devices I've ever used. It overcomes many of the shortcomings of Windows Mobile with a UI that is both user-friendly and functional. TouchFlo3D is up there with the iPhone interface, and you could make a strong argument that it is better. It has speed issues at times, but that is inherent to WinMo. It is a very powerful device that blends design and functionality wonderfully. |

Re: Diamond vs Storm
tf3d would be up there with the iphone if it didn't crash.
you can't really compare a windows mobile device to a blackberry device.. they're different beasts. now, if you were to compare the diamond to the omnia, or something else in its realm, you would actually have some info. this question boils down to, do you want a windows mobile device, or a blackberry device. if you can't even figure that out, then you're going to have a hard time narrowing your choices to specific devices. i wouldn't own a blackberry device because the data plans are more expensive, and the software is very limited. i wouldn't own a diamond because there's no physical keyboard, no sd card slot, and overall, its just not a very functional device. i had one, and had to get rid of it. i have a touch pro, but that too lacks some functionality, like real 3d hardware acceleration, video playback is terrible, and it won't even charge while you're on a call longer than a half hour. these are key flaws that will NEVER be resolved, so get used to them. who cares if it has tv out if you can't even play a video that you took on your phone on the tv at a frame rate higher than 5fps. i hate when people compare blackberries to windows mobile devices to iphones, to instincts, to whatever else is out there because they kinda look the same. they're all different, and comparing them will get you nowhere unless functionality and service costs mean nothing to you. do you need windows mobile? do you need blackberry? if it really doesn't matter, you're probably better off with a windows mobile device, because at least you have a better chance of adapting it to an actual work situation, if you find one for it. |
