Re: My options... I need advice (stay with TP?)
You must be new to Windows Mobile?, because if you really new what was under the hood of that Touch Pro, this would be a no brainer.

On the other hand I could see why some people might like the Instinct if they didn't want to customize the phone at all and like the features it had. I have never owned it, but the customization is what draws me to WinMo HTC phones. You can modify the thing to exactly what you want. On a side note, I am curious (and please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not putting anyone down here, just asking?) I noticed you have posted a lot here and are not new. How can you stick around these forums very long without knows most of the advantages to owning a WinMobile phone? Again, please don't take that the wrong way, I'm seriously not trying to be a smart a**.

Re: My options... I need advice (stay with TP?)
I guess it's less of a windows mobile thing, more of a tp thing. The screen seems flimzey, the kb doesn't light up all the way, and the viewing area is pretty small. At least when I had my instinct I didn't have to squint while watching movies. On the other hand, the instinct barely worked.
Really I dont see myself using the instinct again. It just pisses me off to use that phone. I could see myself getting an iphone at this point :/ |

Re: My options... I need advice (stay with TP?)
They did release a number of updates for the Instink this week. I myself had the Instink for 48 hours and didn't like it. I have had the TP since Nov 1 and LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
That being said, the build of the Tp does seem a bit on the fragile side, but I have dropped mine a number of times w/o issue, and I don't have a screen protector or case. I just have it by itself in my front pocket. I also have insurance on the phone, so it's not a big deal if I break it as I backup my data weekly (if not more often). My opinion, swap back to the Instink for the weekend, get the updates, and then decide if it meets your needs. I think if you just need a phone for basic calling, texting, and the occasional GPS/Web/Video stream, then the Instinct is probably sufficient. If you need to have full exchange support, office document support, and customization/expandability, the TP is a better option. It all comes down to what you need... |

Heh. Looks like I'm not the only one that ran into this. I had this EXACT same problem when I bought my Diamond. I brought my Diamond into the store along with all the things needed to exchange including the return policy because I assumed them being Sprint, they wouldn't want to do it. Sure enough this Sprint corporate store tells me "I'm sorry, we return 30 days from purchase, not from order". I explained to the lady that I was sorry, but their return policy I printed off their website was different. She shot me down, I asked to talk to a manager and he told me the same thing, 30 days from purchase. I showed him the printed return policy that stated that you are able to take it into a Sprint *corporate* store if ordered over the phone or online and return it within 30 days of ACTIVATION. Long story short they refused my return, I called Sprint tele-sales and they told me that I should take it to a Sprint corporate store and return it because it was within the return policy. I told him I tried and that they wouldn't do it. He said he would call the store and make notes on my account saying I was able to return it. Low and behold I was shot down again...I wound up getting escorted from the store for yelling obscenities at the store manager. Believe it or not, I took it to another Sprint corporate store in the area and they returned it no problem. I waited a week and got the TP when it came out and I've been loving it ever since. |

Re: My options... I need advice (stay with TP?)
I've been looking at the iphone because a lot of free apps cover what I'm wanting from it (like google app's voice search and such) but I really do NOT feel comfortable knowing that if someone steals my phone, I have to pay 400 bucks just to get the 8gb model. With Sprint's replacement plan, all you have to do is say it was lost or stolen and they send you a new phone for 50 bucks.
Maybe I'll take my touch pro to a local sprint store and see if they have any that aren't so flimsy feeling. Will they let me exchange at the store? In the long run I'm looking at 340 bucks plus whatever else I spend on this thing (ghost armor, tv out cables, ect) and to me it just seems like thats WAY too expensive for what you get. Maybe I'm just being cheap. |

Re: My options... I need advice (stay with TP?)
you know what, screw it. I'm gonna keep this thing and I'm gonna sell my stupid instinct on ebay for whatever I can get for it.
I'm well off, but I'm not stupid. As soon as I go with a phone and a plan that doesn't have insurance, someone will steal it or it will get lost, or i'll accidentally run over it with my car or SOMETHIN. If there was an even playing field as far as providors and warranty and coverage, I would go with the iphone, but as it stands, it's too risky for not a lot of pay off. Thanks for the input everyone. |
