why is safari and gphone browser faster than opera/ie?

sorry, but i did a little test at home between my daughter's ipod touch on wifi and my tp2 on wifi, and opera 10 beta and safari were about dead even. i didn't try opera mini or skyfire.
as you can tell, at least with Winmo we have choices depending on what we are looking at. skyfire is great for video, while opera is great for all the other stuff.
