Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET
i'm proud to report that we've about doubled the review total on cnet with nothing but positive reviews since this thread started less than a day ago. i know some may think it's pointless, but novice users and first time super phone adopters use sites like CNET and other commercial sites to base their decision. They don't know about sites like ppcgeeks/xda, so we need to do what we can to grow our community, so that we gain more developers and increase the demand for these phones.
I don't know about you guys, but i'd love to see phones like the Touch HD make its way to sprint. Last edited by Unflushablelog; 11-14-2008 at 03:35 PM. |

I can't believe your all defending a phone that won't even charge while your talking on it.
seriously. CMN.

If demand was higher for HTC devices, maybe we'd all be sitting with a cdma Touch HD right now. CNET's official review of the TP was 3 and a half stars, the same as the mogul. Don't know if you've owned the mogul, but not having to restart my device every couple hours and being lockup free is a great improvement and should deserve that extra half star up rating. It also has a nicer screen and is snappier. It's a lot more touch friendly than the stock mogul was with touchflo3d and apps like youtube. You can't blame us for being excited about this phone. I've never been more amused with a phone in my life! Who knows, there could be a fix for the charging problem, that's why we love ppcgeeks/xda - they find a remedy for everything. The iPhone had huge problems when it launched (it couldn't even function as a phone), yet people were drooling over it. Stock Battery life has always been an issue with these devices.. it's what we put up with to do what we can on them. I'm glad you're happy with your touch, but shouldn't you be in the touch forum then? Last edited by Unflushablelog; 11-14-2008 at 04:02 PM. |

Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET
so your bashing a phone, because it (at first) wouldn't even provided the basic functions of a phone....
yet yours won't either. color me confused. your phone charging correctly is something that should just work. it shouldn't need to be fixed or hacked. thats ridiculous. "i really like my new car! its awesome.... and when i can put gas in it, it will be REALLY awesome" if i had a phone that wouldn't charge while i was talking on it, i would get it replaced and replaced and replaced until i got one that worked. not make excuses for it |

Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET
i'm not bashing it, i'm proving a point.. that flaws are always going to be there, but the positives outweigh them. Personally, that problem doesn't apply to me as I don't sit on the phone for hours causing the phone to heat up and stop charging.
I'm sure you have complaints about your phone, yet you love it don't you? There are just as many half star reviews for the original Touch by people that have never used it on CNET. Get what i'm getting at? This thread is for the haters that don't understand why we love our WM phones. CNET has only given HTC devices 3 and a half stars while they give less capable phones a 4 (the palm centro got the same rating as the touch pro! c'mon!), i'm trying to spread the word about our devices. They have faults just like every other phone, but they have plenty of features that the others are lacking in. Our phones have come a long way, yet they still get the same ol avg rating, strange isn't it? This isn't really a comparison thread though, it's for touch pro supporters (that's why it's in the Touch Pro forum). So if you don't agree, you can leave - it's that simple. thanks. Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET
Okay. After all of my short posts I am now prepared to write a long (punctuated and capitalized) and civil post. Now iPhones are very neat devices. They set the pace for Microsoft. However, they are over- rated and overly advertised. I am not bashing Apple users, in fact a support apples new risks and ideas. I do think however that people with iPhones think that they have the best phones, just as people with iPods don't understand there is such a thing as an MP3 player. Whenever someone says wel I have the iPhone I have a routine. I power up my phone, show them S2U2 then launch iFonz. Then they ***** about 3g and I have a talk about evdo REV.A and Sprints coming 4g. Same goes for when a had a color 4GB MP3 player back when iPod Minis were popular. I would be listening and 3 people would come up to me and say, "Hey, is that an iPod?" I always said no see color screen 4 gigs. They would be floured. Same with my phone, I show them what it can do and they back off. It is that simple. No need for wars here. YOU have the confidence to tell any iPhone user off with just a few finger movements , and that is all you need to know. And another thing, PPCs are not advertised thoroughly and we are of a minority. It means that we cannot just whip out out phones and people go whoa a Pro. It means we have to explain to them, one by one.

Re: Disgusted by iPhone users reviewing the TP with bias on CNET
The basic issue here is fairness and not "talking out of your bum."
I am a mostly happy TP owner but that doesn't mean I need to talk smack about the iPhone. I'm sure I'd love the iPhone if I used one, and know people who do, but I just don't want to be an evil AT&T customer (now THEY are worth bashing!) and get raped on my monthly plan, so I make do with this phone, and am really impressed. I understand the need for the thread though because it's true that unfortunately there are a lot of unthinking Apple fanbois who simply won't accept that Apple is best always or that the competition could ever be better in any way. But my advice is, speaking softly, don't be guilty of the same thing that the opposition is doing. There's no need to call Apple "crap," the iPhone a "joke" etc. Especially if you haven't been fair and tried one yet. (That's what those knee-jerk iPhone fans are doing in some of their TP reviews--so don't copy them.) |
