This is a terrible car comparison.

Porsche: well built, everyday reliable with astounding performance and expensive. Focus: many cost cutting measures, not as well put together performance several factors less and costs one fifth or the Porsche. Tell me how this relates to either phone.

A better comparison is an early 90s Lamborghini (Touch Pro) to a Acura NSX from the same era. Lambo can do amazing things but who knows when it will stop working for no reason, uncomfortable, loud and hot, only a true fan can put up with it's negatives. The NSX is slightly cheaper, slightly less performance, but it is so well made it just works, anyone can live with it day to day.

that's a great analogy there and i tend to agree...

as for me personally i cant see leaving winmo devices i've been with them for 4 years now... the only thing that could make me switch was if HTC started pumoing out THEIR own OS... given what they've done to mask the inherent limitations/deficiencies of winmo... i'm confident they would get it right!

I think you're still off.. to stick with the car analogy:

I think the Iphone is like a saleen mustang.. sleek, sexy, and smooth. The very top of the line product offering in it's class... However, it's capabilities are fairly limited. If you want to carry more than a couple sets of golf clubs and a buddy, you're out of luck.

Meanwhile the TP is like a Ford F150 lightning.. Powerful, retooled for speed, able to compete with the mustang, but still ultimately a truck, and full of all of the usefulness of a pickup.

It really does depend on what you want out of a phone. If you're a web surfing media junkie, stick with the Iphone.. but if you need mobile office and a ton of aftermarket software, the HTC devices are the way to go.

my friend has one and gets pissed when we go online because skyfire is sooooooo much faster than safari plus I can send pics to phones thanks to someguy apple only does email plus I can cut and paste .......... I do admit interface on iphone is awsome tho

the tp is good, but the iphone is better insome ways. finger response is superb and storage is great, battery life is better.

but voice dialing bluetooth and qwerty keyboard are things apple forgot for starters, let alone background aps

I have used both the TP and iphone and it really is apples and oranges. Both have pros and cons. It really depends on the user and what you will be using the phone for. Of course most of us here love WM and we will say that is the better platform but if you go to a iphone forum and people will trash WM all day and list reasons why the iphone is better. For features, defintely the Pro, but for sleekness, responsiveness and UI definetly the iphone. Both are not very good as "phones" IMO

I think all of you have a valid point. Both devices have strengths and weakness , but are incredible according to the Demographics they draw. I am a WInMo hut as i love the flexibility with the device and my everyday life

hey now, im the biggest win mobile/htc fan yet... but this is kind of a sad comparison. dont get me wrong i love my tp and think its better than the iphone. but on the flip side.. dont you think you have to give apple a little credit? they came out with ONE phone compared to htc's hundreds.. and on top of that... this phone came out LAST YEAR... so considering it took htc a whole year and a half almost to finally "hit a home run against apple" is not too much of a compliment, considering they been making phones for several years now. (im not bashing htc, im just being honest, ive owned plenty of ppcs.) all im saying is, im tired of hearing lame comparison's to that iphone.. especially when it came out so long ago (the 3g is just an upgrade, same thing with faster speeds and better gps and the app store- the interface is exactly the same). if apple did this with their first phone, what you think is going to happen when they decide to put out another one? then how long will it take to match that one!?! lets stop worrying about which phone is better and just be happy that we finally have a monster device that is sexy at the same time

I agree. if we ARE going to compare, we'd need to compare 2 devices with release dates that are +/- a month or so, not the touch pro, released days ago, to the iphone, released what- a yr and a half ago? I am kinda worried at how bad apple can make our TP's look with their next release, iduno, somewhere within the next year and a half range i bet...

I do agree with that ford lightning vs saleen comparison, that's about right if you ask me.

p.s. slightly ironic that it came up that we can't compare "apples" to oranges, yet we can compare "apples" to windows....

To the people saying "you can't compare the two":

Why not? They're both smart devices with touch screen interfaces that also happen to be phones. I don't see why you can't compare them, and I'm tired of people saying that.
