On the browser note, have you tried a non-pie browser, Opera 9 is pretty similar to the iPhone's and I believe it will be stock on the replacement for the 6800. Multiple programs, if you run just one like you can on the IPhone with your 6800 then there shouldn't be any memory problems. The replacement (hopefully coming to sprint in september) will have 4 times the ram of the mogul, so by upgrading to the new WM phone instead of the IPhone you will still be able to run multiple programs without hacking your phone. On the note of on screen keyboards, while I haven't really looked at the IPhone's, have you tried out one of the Touch keyboards, I believe they have been cabbed. There is a very finger friendly one, and even then, you still have your keyboard which at least for me makes any on screen keyboard and absolute piece of junk. Whether or not memory leaks exist on the IPhone it is still a good idea to reboot any piece of 'computer' equipment on at least a semi regular basis. I go with once a day whether I need it or not. Now on the pure WM advantage side, with a WM product you are not tied into the Apple vision of how things are going to be. Not tied into downloading from iTunes or some other apple equivalent and stuck paying for that which is either free or a comparable freeware version probably exists for a WM user. WM phones are quickly catching up to the iPhone, I would personally wait for the Diamond or the Raphael to come out (for CDMA), the only downside is the smaller screen but they should be just as fast and easily capable of competing with the iPhone, if not on performance alone then on versatility as well. Now where'd I leave my piggy bank I know which phone I'm saving up for. |

Re: to leave or not to leave
It comes down to what you feel you will enjoy more.
Pocket PCs have been around for a LONG time, so there is ALOT of stuff out there on the net for them. Given the pocket pc intergrated with phone functions is getting more popular, but way back in the day (2000-2001 time frame) alot of carrier had made add-ons for pocket pcs to turn them into phones. Regardles the amount of stuff out there for pocket pcs are many. Me personally I will stick with Windows Mobile devices, I have had a form of pocket pc since 2000, so I know how it works and many tips and tricks for them, very well. It's what I know. To me the iPhone is just more of a "oh eye candy" type of thing, where as pocket PCs can be used for anything, I want to say pretty much anything an iPhone can do a pocket PC can do and most likely have been able to do it for while now. |

Re: to leave or not to leave
Lets face it. The iPhone itself from a hardware standpoint destroys ALL windows mobile phones and all phones for that matter (including the diamond). The screen is huge, completely beautiful, and way more responsive than any other phone.
However, its APPLE + AT&T. Why is this a problem? Before I rant, I do not hate apple or its products, just their business mode of operation. I own and have used my 60gb video ipod for about 3 yrs and it's not going anywhere. So here is the rant. YOu can't browse through a PPC forum without seeing hundreds of complaints about Sprint and Verizon and HTC and everyone "crippling" device features. Well guess what? Apple is the king of crippled devices, they just lead you to believe otherwise. DO you honestly believe that Apple did not have the resources to put GPS and 3g speed into the first gen iphone? 3g has been around for gee I don't know a million years now? But this is what Apple does, they make a "revolutionary" phone and purposefully, yes purposefully, leave out KEY features knowing in just ONE year they will simply put them into a new version and make the previous version comepletely obsolete. I mean c'mon, there are folks in this very forum who are STILL using PPC-6700's!! FUrthermore, they completely lockdown their devices. Hello iTunes? Funnily enough, Microsoft is the only one who gets sued for having a monopoly. While we in these forums usually say that we are "hacking" our WinMo phones, most of the tweaks are simply that, tweaks. In order to do anything that Apple hasn't formally given you permission to do, you literally have to hack your iPhone. Why should I have to wait for Apple to allow me to do something with MY property. As far as AT&T, do I really have to explain this? Ridiculously priced data plans and crappy service. However, to their credit they do get the latest and greates devices usually first and/or exclusively. And as a side rant, something I have been saying for a long time (and ironically is something I heard Steve Jobs say) is that software companies should make their own hardware. I'm waiting for the Microsoft Phone. Don't get me wrong, there are days when I hate my PPC lol. But trust me, the freedom of use with PPC's is worth far more than a beautiful piece of hardware. /// end rant. ///
