Iphone safari browser is smoother in operating aspects and with a hack can allow for data to be downloaded.
6800 allows for multiple applications to be run, while sometime this feature can cripple windows mobiles devices, the iphone doesn't have it. But once again found if you are willing to hack you can allow for this to happen and i also think with enough complaints apple will come up with a firmware update to allow it.
iphone has built in gps that doesn't need a unofficial rom upgrade to enable it.
Comparing the ipone on screen keyboard to windows mobile devices, it's better i don't have the biggest fingers in the world, but it doesn't take much to be too big for the wm on-screen keyboard. The iphone has a good on-screen keyboard that i've used almost error free.
Memory leaks as far as i know are unheard of on the iphone where on the other as soon as i do a rom upgrade on the 6800 i'm resetting my phone at least 4 times a day cause of memory leaks.
Someone may bring up the lack of a video recorder well i don't use mine anyway.

While these are answers why to stick with windows mobile they may not nescesarily apply to the 6800, but if you buy an IPhone you need to think of the next 2 years...
On the browser note, have you tried a non-pie browser, Opera 9 is pretty similar to the iPhone's and I believe it will be stock on the replacement for the 6800.
Multiple programs, if you run just one like you can on the IPhone with your 6800 then there shouldn't be any memory problems. The replacement (hopefully coming to sprint in september) will have 4 times the ram of the mogul, so by upgrading to the new WM phone instead of the IPhone you will still be able to run multiple programs without hacking your phone.
On the note of on screen keyboards, while I haven't really looked at the IPhone's, have you tried out one of the Touch keyboards, I believe they have been cabbed. There is a very finger friendly one, and even then, you still have your keyboard which at least for me makes any on screen keyboard and absolute piece of junk.
Whether or not memory leaks exist on the IPhone it is still a good idea to reboot any piece of 'computer' equipment on at least a semi regular basis. I go with once a day whether I need it or not.
Now on the pure WM advantage side, with a WM product you are not tied into the Apple vision of how things are going to be. Not tied into downloading from iTunes or some other apple equivalent and stuck paying for that which is either free or a comparable freeware version probably exists for a WM user.
WM phones are quickly catching up to the iPhone, I would personally wait for the Diamond or the Raphael to come out (for CDMA), the only downside is the smaller screen but they should be just as fast and easily capable of competing with the iPhone, if not on performance alone then on versatility as well.
Now where'd I leave my piggy bank I know which phone I'm saving up for.
