Let me explain it like this..one thing I noticed among notebooks is if say your playing a game and have a ok GPU..and if you took a core i3 pc and a core i7 pc...which one would play the game faster? you would think the core i7 would completely dominate but in reality the difference is marginal..I mean like 10%...max...

In terms of practical specs, dual-cores are overkill unless you do heavy multitasking alot...at least for now..once apps come out that take advantage of dual cores it will be a different ball game..
right, but the mali doesn't "destory" adreno and this guy isn't even interested in playing playstation 5 emulated games. If you want to go for the ultimate gaming experience I say get an iPhone 5 if it does come to Sprint.

What I'm saying is you use the word "destroy" like we're comparing an HD2 to a TP2 or something, they are comparable in almost any application and I will admit that current benches show the GS2 to outperform the Evo3D but we're talking hard-core gaming here and it's not obliteration it's just slightly better gameplay. Oh and what if this dude wants to play some games with non etc texture compression and doesn't want to root his phone?

The 4x mali is 120m triangles, the adreno is 88m triangles...that said..I was giving an example of difference between raw specs and practical specs..it was not the idea of using a gaming comparison between adreno and the mali...

raw specs means the power of the components inside..they don't have to be practical..for HIS use I told him a single core is more then enough..

Re: Photon or Evo?

Wow thx to you all for the many great input.
my primary use of the phone is customization, have to be able to root the phone easily. I love my iPod touch 4g because of the jailbreak. I Turn it into a gps device for driving.
I love to get free aps, but I do support the cookers, 3rd parties, such as energy rom.
My other uses are games, photo, lots of multitasking.
Im not too kind of the Evo 3d, I try it and it gets me dizzy.. I was more leaning towards the eve 4g or the photon.

The phone that will do for me will be 4g capable, a nice home screen where I can put my calendars, to do list, miss calls, all my dead line and essentials right there on the home page. And a nice display for movie viewing.

I heard many great review about the display of the galaxy s, so will like to see the gs2, but don't know how long to wait...for such a phone.

The display on the sgs2 is better then the one on the original galaxy s...as for time-frame, estimates put it at end of august/early September..so if you decide to go with the Evo3d or the photon 4g you may still be in 30days of the sgs2..but again this date is based on "Speculation"...

Re: Photon or Evo?

The thing I dislike about the SGS2 was it did not have the capability of adding any additional storage. I like options of adding 16 or 32 gb's. I was going to wait, but that through me off. Something simple like that takes me away from those products. That's just my feel, not everyone will probably think along those same lines... just an option kinda guy

Based on what you are looking to do I would get an Evo4G if you aren't going to play crazy 3D games with high framerate or record 1080p. If you want that stuff I'd go SGS2 since it is like the Evo3D with slightly better specs (except for resolution) but without the 3D.

Since you want to root you can install Chainfire3D and play some Tegra2 and other games that you wouldn't be able to with the stock ROM.

I'm curious, are you saying this based off game availability or the gpu in the iP5?

You are completely correct, lol
I was at work and got distracted.
The SGS2 has microsd capabilities.
Just waiting for the Sprint version (Epic 4G Touch)
Hoping it's soon, so I can analyze it as well and put together decision.

both. Plus the fact that iOS is so much more efficiently an OS that the 3GS with its 600mhz processor and 256mb ram seems to run the same games a 1ghz 512mb Android device does smoother. I'm willing to bet a dual-core A5 with 1gb RAM will run shit a lot smoother than even the SGS2 and you won't have to root it to get it to play some of those games.
