Re: Need opinions: HTC Diamond vs. HTC Touch Pro 2
If you like flashing new roms or making your own, having a wvga device is a huge plus. The Diamond is a good phone, but ROM development and vga packages have trickled down to almost nothing. I had one for about 1.5 yrs and am now on a TP2. The main advantage of the TP2 (to me) is that it is wvga. With a good SIP like SlideIT or Swype, the diamond was easy to type on for me.
The diamond is just about the same thickness as the tp2, but smaller in the other dimensions. The TP2 battery seems a bit better to me as well.

I'm still using my diamond. +1 for swype.
It is much more pocketable and the screen does look great even though it is smaller. A friend of mine uses spb mobile shell and says his diamond is much faster than any other rom and, of course, more customizable. If you don't mind a smaller screen compared to the tp2 because you want a smaller size/more pocketable, then the main difference I have noticed is that tp2 has better battery life than the diamond. |

the Diamond isn't 'way more outdated' than the TP2.. its got just about everything except the qwerty, wvga, gsm and video out. In exchange it is far less bulky. I have both but prefer the Diamond... the Roms are decent...

Re: Need opinions: HTC Diamond vs. HTC Touch Pro 2
Thanks for the replies guys. I was wondering...how's the internet browsing speed for you guys? When I had the TP2, I noticed it took a lot longer for pages to load (maybe because of the increased screen resolution) than my old Motorola Q9c which loads up pages super fast. Is that typical of the HTC devices and should I expect the same from the Diamond?
What's a good price to pay for a Diamond these days? I've browsed the bargain trader section of this site and most of the threads for Diamonds are months old. |
