Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

I too came from the tp2, as a previous poster stated, learning Android will be your biggest hurdle not typing. Trust me you're gonna like it.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

screen is large enough to accomodate finger friendly keys, so soft keyboards are pretty easy to use. I used to be a hardware kb only user, but the 4.3" screen has made me change that position. Samsung Epic 4G will be out probably by the end of the summer, which has comparable specs to the EVO, but with a slideout keyboard, so that's another one to keep an eye on. I bet Sprint's WP7 device at the end of the year will have a kb too.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

Well i went from the touh to the touch pro then the touch pro 2 all the time not going to the android phones due to them not being much better.I loved the large screen size. But when i seen how fast this phone is i could not go back. The only regret i have is the price im paying more now since i added a few more lines but besides the price plan im on now it has been easy to go from the tp2 to the EVO for me.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

congrats and welcome to the Evo forum. the adjustment will be small to be honest. Both are outstanding devices though. Plenty of people here to help so feel free to ask away!!

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

Have you looked at the Samsung Epic specs? That may be the phone for you once it comes out on Sprint. It's a little smaller (4inch screen) but it runs android and has a full qwerty keyboard. You might want to look into that before buying the Evo...If you've already gotten the Evo then...I guess you made up your mind...but I figured I would throw that out there for ya.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

i did the same and thought i couldn't live without a physical kb. but after getting used to virtual kb i can't see myself going back. i rarely used the droid's kb. only thing i used it for was to boot into recovery if i had problems.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

I went from a TP2 to an EVO and back to a TP2. Yes, you will get used to a virtual keyboard, but the EVO actually limited my typing speed so the physical keyboard is definitely a must for me. Also, it's nice to be able to charge the phone once a day or once every two days instead of 2-3 times a day with the EVO. I use my phone for music as well and the TP2 beats the EVO hands down. The stock music player in the EVO doesn't know what 'Random' means. It will randomize the same small group of songs and play those over and over regardless of how many you have.

My suggestion is you live in an area with 4G and absolutely must have the latest and greatest now, then go EVO. If not, save your money and upgrade credit because better phones will be coming out.
