Most biased Evo v iPhone review ever?!
http://www.crn.com/mobile/225500038;...MY32JVN?pgno=1
This has got to be the most biased, obvious iPhone fanboy review ever. My take on a point by point basis 1 (page 2). camera: Toss up here. Yeah there isn't much difference on a cellphone between 5 and 8 mp (the way I understand it, huge amounts of mp only matters if youre enlarging the photo). I could agree with a tie without much fuss. Evo 1, iphone 1 2. Memory and storage: Evo comes with 1gb internal, up to 32gb external. iPhone comes with nonremovable/replaceable/exchangeable (?) 16gb or 32gb. Reviewer gave this to the iphone on the basis of having more choice with the iphone. More choice?! You have 2 choices!!! With the evo I can have an unlimited amount of cards with whatever I want on them, I can change between 1,2,8,16,32gb whenever I want. How much more choice can you get?! Given to iphone by the reviewer. I say, Evo 2, iphone 1 3. Pricing: Im going to combine Device and network pricing here since I believe this should be tied together when deciding on a phone (pp 4 &6). Evo... $199 (+25 for 16gb microsd, $224). iphone 16gb $199. Looks like iphone has the lead here. Here comes the tricky part. Reviewer (pg 6) compared Sprints unlimited plan +$10 Evo fee to AT&T's 2gb data plan + unlimited talk. Problem here is (which I didnt know until I looked) AT&T charges seperate for messaging (plus stuff like gps which sprint gives for free but I wont add here). Sprint Truly unlimited plan for the evo is $110. AT&T 2gb plan is $115. Throughout a 2 yr contract we're talking and additional $120 dollars. All things considered here, for an extra $25 dollars for the microsd card youre saying $95 overall not to mention you have unlimited date with Sprint (really AT&T 2gb? I mean reallyyyyyyy?). I'd give it to Evo! Evo 3, iPhone 1. 4. Network (pg 5): Evo runs the nations first 4g network (if you are lucky enough to have it in your area) as well as 3g elsewhere. iPhone only runs 3g. There have been widespread reports of complaints about AT&T's network performance (prompting the dropping of unlimited data plans). Personally my 3g performance with the Evo has increased over my previous phone and other users have reported an increase as well. AT&T is a crippled network and it'll only get worse if more people buy the iPhone. Reviewer gave it to the Evo and I agree. Evo 4, iPhone 1. 5. Connectivity (pg 7): Reviewer seems to have compared only the wifi ability so lets do it! Given to the iPhone because it runs 802.11n connectivity. Apparently HTC didn't push any claims that it could do the same. However a quick search shows that the Evo has the same chipset as the N1 which has 802.11n connectivity (possibly related to froyo). Considering the iphone 4 isnt even released yet and we're talking future events here Im going to have to call this a tie. Evo 5, iPhone 2. 6. Size and weight. iPhone: 4.8 oz 4.5x2.31x0.37. Evo: 6 oz. 4.8x2.6x0.35. If we're to believe smaller is better then I could see giving this to the iPhone. I personally disagree. It seems that we're talking different demographics with the different phone users. I think the people that bought the Evo are just fine with a bigger phone (I know I am) but Im willing to believe most consumer smart phone buyers (non business purchasers) mostly use the phone for texting and talking and are just fine with the more standard 3.5 inch screen so... Evo 5, iPhone 3. 7. Display: Evo: 4.3inch 480x800 217ppi wled display. iPhone 3.5inch 960x640 326ppi "retina" display. Naming their own glass is probably just marketing on the part of Apple and its too early for there to be any reports on how much better the retina glass looks so lets disregard that for now. Looks like the iPhone has the lead here but wait? Whats that? 4.3 inches?! I'd bet a movie would look great on that! In this case I'd say if someone was looking to purchase a phone for media presentation bigger is better. And since its a phone and still has a relatively small screen an extra hundred ppi isnt going to make much difference. Whats the actual visual difference between 720p and 1080p on a screen that small? Evo FTW!! Evo 6, iPhone 3. 8. Battery Life... Nothing to say here. ::Bows to iPhone:: Evo 6, iPhone 4. 9. Apps: Again. What can you say, Apples got 250k more apps. We can disagree on usefulness but based on sheer numbers iPhone wins. Evo 6, iPhone 5. 10. Sensors: Same except for the new addition of a gyroscope. I dont know enough to comment on whats capable so Ill defer to the hype and assume its awesome! Evo 6, iPhone 6. Close game huh?! 11. Messaging/email. Same except apparently the iPhone doesnt have outlook push compatibility. Accepted without comment. Evo 7, iPhone 6. 12. Document viewing/editing. Both allow for viewing/editing documents including microsoft word/excel using apps found in the stores. Tie. Evo 8, iPhone 7. 13. Browser. Pretty standard fare for smartphones these days. Based on browsers alone pretty darn close. However, Im going to give the edge to the Evo for a different reason than the reviewer. With Froyo comes the ability to send pages and info straight from Google Chrome to your Evo! Looking at something on the computer but have to leave? Press a button and its opened in your phone. Thank Jesus for the cloud! Evo 9, iPhone 7. Winner? Evo! Yeah, the iPhone may have more apps and bigger buzz but when it all comes down to it. The Evo is hard to beat. There really arent many improvements on the iPhone year to year but the Evo (and similar phones) took huge leaps with processer speed, screen size and customizability (without having to root/jailbreak). Any comments? (and yes I was increadibly bored to do this!)

Browsers are the same now, but besides the fact we have flash, Google has gone on record to say they have the fastest browser, and if you disable flash, nothing is as fast as the froyo browser

Re: Most biased Evo v iPhone review ever?!
"Additional Connectivity
It's no longer just about the network! Devices have to have various levels of connectivity. But the iPhone 4 and the EVO 4G are connectivity hulks. The Apple iPhone 4 has 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, though the n is on 2.5GHz only, while the HTC EVO 4G has 802.11 b/g only for Wi-Fi connectivity. Both of them also tie in Bluetooth and GPS connectivity. And now the iPhone supports tethering, meaning users don't need a hot spot to surf the Web on their computer, instead, they can leverage the iPhone's 3G connection. Winner: Apple iPhone 4. Additional connectivity isn't really a deal breaker, but the iPhone's leverage of 802.11n is important. " Are they kidding me? lmaoooooooooooooooooooooo. So I, take it letting your evo share dsl speeds with 8 different devices dont count? But tethering on 3g on one device is? lmaooooooooooooooo " Size And Weight Smartphones are getting smaller. No one wants to be carrying around a bulky or overstuffed device. The iPhone 4 and HTC EVO 4G have made strides to be tight and right, as compact and light as possible and still blow your hair back with their functionality. The Apple iPhone 4 weighs in at 4.8 ounces and measures 4.5 inches by 2.31 inches by 0.37 inches, 24 percent more slender than the Apple iPhone 3G S. Meanwhile, the HTC EVO 4G weighs 6 ounces and measures 4.8 inches by 2.6 inches by 0.5 inches. Winner: Apple iPhone 4. When it comes to smartphones, size matters and the Apple iPhone 4's compact sexy frame is sure to turn heads. " Most the engadget comments I see people begging for bigger screens. I can't wait to see people pull their iphone out and me pull my evo out and show how it doesn't compare.

Re: Most biased Evo v iPhone review ever?!
iPhone will def be coming to sprint, not this year tho. trust me. The iphone will be pushed out like the N1, next year tho folks. Heard from a reliable source and the AT&T ETF and early upgrade to iphone should also tell you.
