Re: EVO not WORTH the switch

$#@! google. They harvest all your information and sell it to the highest bidder. They are also against net neutrality. Support filtering your content (china was a beta test..) They want corps to pay them big $'s to put their search results in front of your face. Who would want to continue to support these appholes?

sure 4.3 inches rule and tp2 has had its share of issues (which is why i ran a stock rom again for so long) but the 5" and likely 3d screens are coming to wm in the next year and max sense has transformed my phone until then.

I am sure that 4g would be great and I will partake of it soon. I am 1000% positive that screen is amazing. until then i will enjoy my new responsive slick interface that blows away googles lame data mining technology. max really has put everything at your fingertips. ahhhh... I cant wait to have xbox games on my device etc. oh wait yes i can my tp2 just got a whole lot more interesting and im sure one day soon here i could dualboot into android with full functionality.

I could be wrong but droid os/apps seem really iphoneish.. and sure games on iphone etc are better than wm devices now in many cases but they are about to have their asses handed to them.

I am sure that some jerkwad is going to say. well i have the money ill just continue to get the better technology as it comes out. Thing is sometimes the bad guys leap ahead and its all about making choices.

Bottom line the only thing this phone has over the tp2 when you strip everything away is: a bigger screen; faster cpu; 4g; ram; possibly battery;. The rest is a negative not a positive, and these issues will be rectified and 1 upped shortly. some of it is mitigated through the continuing development of roms in this forum.

Support freedom of choice and not confined markets of controlled apps. That is what we are all here for anyway isnt it?

also while I wait there are plenty of things you can do with this phone that you cant do with a googley iphone. I do all sorts off crap with this phone including controlling my laptop connected to my 46 lcd using gremote etc. I could go on and on about it, but bottom line;

It does Everything I need it to do and more and am always happily suprised in many cases to find multiple solutions for when I find new "more"s to do (not its coming next year.../or IF the platform gets good developers) Windows mobile is tried and true the development is out there and massive; the hype about wm dying is just google marketing the sheep like apple did. Guess they learned how to bs from the best.

Thank you for your attention.
Please drive thru.

Re: EVO not WORTH the switch

That's why I returned my EVO yesterday, I prefer something with physical keyboard, plus bluetooth is not good, cannot initiate call thru bt button. Bye bye EVO, come back with my TP2.

Yeah thats another thing I didn't mention. That new phone has a slew of new problems that will need to be addressed. I heard the video calling wasn't even working right. Just as the TP2 is getting into its golden age with more stability and functionality (hitting a new level like with max sense and other highly developed roms on this forum...) people are bailing for droid apps lol...

That snapdragon rocks though kindof makes me want an hd2. You can almost do without a kb with swype but it does really work better overall when typing out long messages such as this.

The new device development has also reached a new level we see it with the evo being the 1st gen out... There is 3d sound coming. 3d screens. better oled stuff. Definately if contracts/money are an issue for some of you. Hold out for the next better devices to hit Q4 and Q1 next year... they are going to be amazing. I want a 5" device myself.

There are few options now when it comes to tethering on the android platform. There is PDANet, one other paid tethering app, and a few free apps.

iGO8 is on Android The same maps you use on other platforms work on Android as well. http://www.igomyway.com/android/en/overview.html

Can't say much about any aviation moving map softwares, but I believe Pilot My-Cast is one of the options, and it's available for Android.

clearly, we are unfortunately the minority. i guess the history lesson unfortunate is that the ignorance mass will win at the poll and by the time every1 figured it out, it's too late..(i can name several historical examples but we probaly can all name one)...

wm free development tool is a good thing, but the overall direction ms is going, there are several things wrong and we all know it, unfortunately it all comes down to ignorant mass and what they want and their lack of knowledge (that can be taken advantage of) that drives it all.
This quote is interesting. While I'm sure it's nice to believe there is something wrong with everyone that doesn't share your preference for Windows Mobile....... but why can't anyone recognize that maybe Microsoft has possible just executed the greatest Folly on the mobile platform? Create a market, lead innovation, and then lose it all to new guys in a matter of years.

Sure it is a good platform..... but it's not as good as it can be. Microsoft has been resting on it's laurels and hasn't breathed any real effort in the platform or released anything that was great since WM 5.0. Apple and other makes have filled a gap the consumers have been wanting for a long time.... smart phone usability. They delivered and the market responded. Not sure how that makes users ignorant.... to me it just shows Microsoft's indifference to a market that is becoming more and more important (mobile).

The only ignorance I've really seen is the blind fan boi comments flying back and forth from each camps. "Platform so and so doesnt have software X, and won't for years....." without doing their own research.

Curious about this. Say I switch back to my Touch Pro2, do they remove the $10 fee. Then add it back on if I activate the EVO again???

i'm talking behind the scenes (coding etc..) not the interface. As we can expect with just about any ppc, modifications will commence and make the interface customizable how we like remember?

yes they do. my brother used my upgrade to get his Evo and when we ran it through the activation system it had me add it. when i went back in to move my line back to my TP2 it said "removed incompatible features" and it automatically dropped the $10 from my line, then of course added to his

you're also assuming we'll be able to modifications that are as extensive as WinMo can now, it won't necessarily be true that we'll be able to make the same changes with WP7, unless you've managed to go take a peek at the source code
and i'm not talking just the interface because iphone against wp7 i'd still take wp7 Metro. i'm also talking about the amount of control MS seems to be taking with WP7 which is right up apple's alley. google/android on the other hand, is still allowing even the most worthless of modifications to Android such as the LG Ally and the MyTouch Slide
