just my 2¢

I had the mogul for 6 months, bought a touch 3 weeks ago. Loved the form factor, it seemed to be a little faster, battery charged 50% faster. Bluetooth about the same.

BUUUT.

The sd card slot is reeeedicuuuulus. You have to use your stylus to put the thing in, and use tweezers to get the card out.

I have tried every keyboard as well as spb full screen keyboard, which is pretty good, but the lack of a hardware keyboard killed it for me.

I thought i would prefer the superficial supermodel thin touch, but i feel more satisfied with my chunky 6800 with more personality.

6800 i give you my last rose.

dats just my oh pin yon.

;)

I have to say I was anxious to get this phone once I heard it was on it's way (Thanks PhoneArena). Unfortunately I had to wait several days to activate it due to Sprint's backend upgrades this week. What idiot decided to make this major upgrade the same day they introduce a phone that was supposed to compete with I-Phone? Obviously their departments to not TALK to each other! This action left a sour taste in my nouth.

There are numerous flaws with this phone. First, and the most annoying, is that in standby mode the phone crashes for no apparent reason. At first I suspected it was due to one of the programs running in the background but after I closed all the running programs it still happened. This caused me to lose several incoming calls. Each time I didn't find out the phone had crashed until I went to use it myself. The worst part about this is that you cannot reboot the phone using any button. You have to take off the rear battery cover and remove the battery and then re-install. Very frustrating.

The second most annoying feature is the pop-up keyboards. On many occasions the keyboard hides the fields that you are trying to enter data into. This means you have to continuously go back and forth checking what you have typed to see if it's correct. How hard would it have been to move the whole screen upwards to keep the input field visible? Could no one at HTC see this problem? Wow.

There are other problems too. Too numerous to mention here. Let's just say that the blame for these problems should be disrtibuted evenly between Sprint, Microsoft, and HTC. I hope the first firmware update addresses these major issues quickly. You can also point the finger at Apple too. Because of the I-Phone manufaturers and service providers are rushing out phones before they're ready. To me the HTC Touch is a beta prototype at best.

the funny thing is... all those "problems" he names... I don't even know what he's talking about. my touch is like 95% flawless. Yes, there's been a few touch problems with certain people, exchange it and its solve.... but its not like the mogul where its nearly every person's device has the same problem.

am I the only one that finds it hilarious that they released this 2.17 ROM update for the mogul and I read that ther is still problems?????? LOL. Thank God for the Touch...

I'm planning on getting a Touch. I currently use the HTC Apache series (Verizon xv6700, retired, and as of now, the Sprint PPC 6700).

First of all, I NEVER liked the design of the Mogul: Starting with that putrid greenish-grey color--ACK! And I didn't like the curviness of the case--it looked way too "feminine" to me--no offense to anyone, but I happen to like the blocky, brick-like design and elegant straight lines of the Apache series. I also must admit that at first I liked all the hardware buttons available on my 6700, but the Mogul seems to have--dare I say--too many!

I also must admit that, at first, pictures of the HTC Touch didn't flatter it any. To me, the design looked like 90% of all their other handsets, and thereby entirely lackluster. But I had no idea how small the device is until I actually had a chance to pick one up for myself and toy around with it. It has a very good feel to it as well--it feels solid and well-constructed in the hand.

Ultimately, it was that small size and LACK of buttons that swayed my decision.

Early this year, I was dead-set on getting an iPhone. But then I had a chance to play with the Sprint 6700, and it was all over for me. I rushed right over to Verizon and got the xv6700 because of its black matte housing. I have since used an iPhone and the features compared to the 6700 are laughable at best. Beautiful as it might be--but damn--when your OS'es extensibility is entirely hacker-community-supported, there's something sad to be said about that.

But you guys know that feeling when you know it's time for an upgrade to your device. And that's where I'm at right now.

Mind you, I have also considered the Verizon version of the TyTan/Mogul/6800 series. It's admittedly sexier than the Sprint version. And to be perfectly honest, that utilitarian 6700 ruggedness has yet to wear off from me. (It's knowing I have at my disposal all those buttons, even if I hardly ever use them!) If I DO get the xv6800, however, I would more than likely use both handsets, switching between the two as circumstances might arise.

So the HTC Touch answers both questions for me: It is as extensible as my 6700 and yet has a stylish and elegant form factor that is surprisingly even smaller than the iPhone!

Owning a 6800 was such an uphill battle for the entire time I owned the phone, I think I would be unable to recommend it to anyone...

Funny - the Mogul as too "feminine" for you, but the Touch is "stylish and elegant"? The Touch does not strike me as a "manly" phone! :)

No, it's not "manly", but it IS sexy!

There is a BIG difference between feminine looking and sexy looking:

^^Now if you think that's sexy, you might not want your neighbors to know you live near a school....

Memory

There's a post here @ this site with some 1 claiming to have double the memory on a Mogul after a repair from HT in Texas.
