Insturctions and files for installing 6.5

Hello!

Thank you everyone for your development of 6.5 for the PRO. I have been reading the threads and I am a bit confused on how to install the new ROM. Can anyone give a quick list of instructions with steps and files needed to put on a new ROM.

You and me both. The Palm Pro is my first smart phone ever and every tweak is a new lesson to me. Installing a new O.S. is a pretty big step and I don't want to hose my phone.

Yea I actually download one of the 6.5 files and started the set up but it got stock at 0% so I reset the phone and thankfully it worked. I think it has to be flashed with another file first before it can be flashed to 6.5 if I understand correctly. But a guide would soo great!!

First unlock your phone with the HSPL found here:

Then find a 6.5 ROM you like from the Upgrade Forum

Take the file (RUU_signed.nbh) and put it in Cfay's custom RUU found here:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=82321

Then run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Done!

With my ROM's atleast, you don't need to do step #3, I already include the Rom Update Utility.

I wish I would of read step 3. I paid 10 bucks to download it from rapidshare.

Your rom (acidhax) is the matbee correct.

What are the differences between these roms. Just the theme and installed apps?

Can I install 6.1 apps on a 6.5 rom?

Nearly all 6.1 apps are compatable with 6.5... There's not much difference, other than what the developers of Windows Mobile have done (which I really don't know).

So I finally got the hardspl to flash (the secret was to unplug and replug usb while it shows "Verifying"). I see 0.36 CMONEX on my tricolor screen.

1. So I reboot the phone
2. Connect to ActiveSync on XP (also tried WMDC on Win 7)
3. Start the Rom Update utiltiy from MatBee. Also tried the Cfay uploader
4. It goes to the point where it "should" start uploading and change the screen to the progress bar, but during that time, USB disconnects and windows says it can't install drivers. About 20 secs later the RUU gives the 260 connection error.

- I've flashed my old HTC Touch/Vogue a hundred times before, and I remember seeing this usb behavior before, but don't remember it being an issue
- I've tried Cfay, matbee, WinXP, Win7, all have the same problem\
- I've rebooted PC and phone numerous times.

Any tips? Seems like it would be a common issue but most topics I see people flash with no problems
