Can we give CFay a locked thread that only he can update with the 6.5 installation

I see three threads or so with 6.5 this and that and anything useful is mixed in with a bunch of crappy hijacks.

If CFAY can have a locked thread and just tell us what steps are needed to install without anybody mucking it up it would make for a nice sticky and would be easy to find.

Apparently you haven't seen the Touch Pro rom threads. They kinda all get filled with other posters asking install questions and all kinds of others too.

As even my grandma knows, the steps to installing a custom ROM are:
1. Install hardSPL
2. Install custom ROM

It's better than having 100+ threads asking the same questions over and over and over.

Unfortunately he'd have to be given Moderator powers to do what is being suggested or work hand in hand with a moderator to lock/unlock the thread every time--not really feasible.

I'll try to keep the threads clean, but it's always difficult to catch everything

Well you can just make me a mod of this particular forum . But in all seriousness the mods will usually catch most of the garbage.

Yea, ill take on that job, Ill still have my Treo for awhile. Plus I will always have a fondness for this forum, I like to think Im responsible for it . Let me know.

Easy guys. PA, you have to keep in mind that this is how the threads here work. The reason for it is so that a ton of new threads don't get started asking about a particular rom. Any questions you have should go into the thread for the rom you're using / trying to flash. Then if you have a question, and want to see if it's been asked, you only have to search that particular thread instead of the whole device forum.

Just keep an eye on the first couple of posts on a custom rom thread. The person who made the rom will update those first couple of posts with any changes, updates, or new instructions as they become available. They will usually throw in a build list of some sort explaining what is actually in the rom. Cfay will always have those first couple of posts in the thread, and only he can change them. Threads here don't ever really get "hijacked". The posts inside them are almost always specific to the thread, and pertain to the original post in some way. This is how we all communicate about bugs and fixes and can keep them all in the easiest place for everyone to find... right inside the thread for that rom.

You simply download one of them (after you've followed the unlocking instructions of course) and unrar them. Once you have, you'll see inside a file called Custom_RUU.exe.
You hook up your phone and make sure you're connected in Active Sync, or Windows Mobile Device Center. Run that Custom_RUU.exe and after about 10 minutes your phone will reboot to a totally new rom. It looks very similar to the unlocking process, but takes longer.
