Re: Sprint Treo Pro Available NOW!!!
I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, but ram is what the apps load into and as you use them it takes up more ram. So after a soft reset it would clear out the ram and only load the minimum amount the apps need to function. So if it comes with 96MB, then after all the apps load up and you check the memory, it would say you have 45MB left.

Small update: it DOES have 128mb of RAM But it looks like this under Settings --> Memory --> Program Memory (RAM) Free: 80.1mb In use: 38mb Free: 42mb That last number is the important one. It's kinda low. Not Mogul or 700w low, but it's lower than the 800w and GSM Treo Pro (both 128mb) where you have 70mb free. Why the difference? Dunno. Will it matter? Depends on your usage. Either way, it's f'in stupid. LOL They should have had at least 70mb FREE RAM minimum today and 100+mb to be competitive. Just think: add in plugins, memory resident apps, scripts and memory tweaks and you can take 10-12mb off of 42mb. So now you have maybe 32mb and you haven't even launched a single program yet. That's not catastrophic, but it's getting tight. |

I love the form of the Treo but it seems for me going from a 700wx to the 850 would be a "lateral transfer". Might be holding out for the Pre or something else. late, Coz
