Amazing that people don't scream about Palm when that phone was announced LAST SUMMER, Sprint has given Mogul users 2 rom updates since the supposed Treo 800 release date. Put a QVGA screen (or better), WM6.1 and more memory in a Treo 700wx and I'm there, so long HTC. My old Treo 700wx feels more solid and is way more stable than the Mogul, its just too plain DULL.

errr..the 800w has never been "announced" by anyone--heck, Palm and Sprint don't even discuss it publicly.

the mogul had a 6 month delay b/c they wanted to add WM6 to it--so these things happen.

My $150 off comes due June 1st so I'm all but sold on the 800w if the specs turn out to be true...

If you go around to some WM websites/forums the Sprint Road Map image has been taken down due to Sprint's legal department contacting them. Pretty good guess it's coming out in July. Ugh...even after my $150 off... and assuming a $579 retail price... $429...

Yeah, WM 6.1 for the new Palm Treo was confirmed by Sprint and Microsoft at CTIA yesterday.

So that mystery is over, lol

Too bad it will be a Palm and suffer from numerous hardware defects. Such a shame because on paper it sounds like a solid device.

That's quite a bit of a sweeping generalization, imo.

I've been using the Centro since October and it's one of the best smartphones out there.

Beautiful high res screen
Stable, consistent and worthy BT
Loud ringers and speakerphone
Excellent build quality

FYI, Palm doesn't actually "make" phones, it's the OEMs. Palm just designs them.

Hint: Past Palm devices (650, 700) were made by...wait for it...HTC. (Inventec makes the Centro).

So you are basically saying HTC makes devices with "numerous hardware defects", which is an interesting argument.
