800w PC connection problem

well, my 700wx bit the dust today and Sprint was nice enough to hook me up with an 800w as a replacement. I'm having difficulty getting my device to sync up with my PC. when I plug it in, I get the error message "one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

I seached on here and didn't come up with anything. Searching google yielded a few results that usually pointed to a crappy cable connection.

I've tried everything I can short of a new cable and nothing.

Can anyone on here offer any guidance?

Palm has an update which may help with your issue. You can find the file on Palm's website. I had a similar issue and this helped me.

I had that same error warning pop up on my ppc6700 and it never did fix itself. I dealt with it for 3 months and finally called and got an insurance swap. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling every piece of software i though might be messing it up, different cables, different usb hubs, different computers, nothing fixed it. If it happens to you again I'd suggest taking it back while you still can just to swap out for a different one.

Re: 800w PC connection problem

The 800w has many problems with the micro usb. Mainly in syncing and in charging a dead battery. Mine is double bad as the battery in my phone does not shut down before it drains itself dead. I swapped to a Centro battery and have no issues. The USB update fixed nothing it advertised for me. My advise set up exchange and drop the sync cable. It is extremely inexpensive from godaddy as there are coupon codes everywhere.

On a side note, how did you get sprint to swap the 700wx for the 800w? In store? I try to do the self repair online and it says they will still swap with a 700wx. The repair center near me used to swap phones on the spot, now they order them in. It is a 3rd party sprint store. do you think I should drive out to a sprint owned repair center? Thank you for your advice, sorry to hijack the thread.

Long story short, I took the bricked 700wx to a Sprint Corporate store where they tried to reset it, to no avail. They offered me the option to pay a $55 repair bill and they would swap it out for another 700wx. Sounded OK to me cause I was in a bind so after searching the store, they couldn't find one to give me. They told me it was going to be 5 days until they could get another in stock.

I had a little chat with the guy and told him how I've been with Sprint forever and just upped my plan for 2 more years the day before (both true). I guess he felt sorry for me, chatted with the manager and made it happen.

Outstanding service from that gentleman =D>
