I don't think so. The 160 character limit is part of the SMS standard, not of Windows or your Treo. See http://communication.howstuffworks.com/sms.htm for more info.

he just browsing around and wanted to drop in my 2 cets ...but i have recently switched from my wto a apache and a kool thing i knowticed it dose is if i do type over 160 it just keep going and tells me its gonna send 2,3,4 msgs what ever...so i would think that some reg editing could do it ...but im new so yea....please chim in

The maximum number of characters is 160. That's it. Some phones, like most Windows Mobile ones (Treos, Apache's & the like) have a text program that will automatically split up the messages for you. But again, the max number of characters in each message will be 160.

Ya but I think he his treo to split up the messages, because coming from the apache i hate how the treo stops at 160, and you have to send it, then send another one. It would be so much better if it would do it automatically.
