I dont get those options, if I go to menu it add media. Can you tell me from step 1 how you go about that.

Thanks,

No, through regular outlook, when you tried to attach a file to an email it would create problems. Nothing within the threading app itself, but it was due to a dll that was missing.

Ok, I got you. Thanks for explaining it to me. Either than that this app works great. Just waiting for the MMS.

Guess how many files are in the Palm Messaging B4 .cab? 85

So she was attempting to unpack the .cab directly.

Yes this is the issue however I was not attempting to do it intentially, when I downloaded the cab from the email to a \download directory b/c I did not see a Windows I would click on it and it would begin to unpack. I figured ok it installed and knew where it was going.

It was working for a bit and now its not. Even when I send a text message out that text message comes back to the original text file in 700wx. Only if I originally initated the conversation (when it first initally worked) did it continue in the converstaion.

Now I am tryin to reinstall it like yall say and it is not working at all!

I get the following error messages
Quote:

INSTALLATION WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE PROGRAM OR SETTINGS CAN NOT BE INSTALLED BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT SYSTEM PERMISSIONS.
This is very new to me and its like yall are talking a foreign language.. even though I am familar with lost of IT aspects I am lost as to much of what yall mention. I dont know about a roscoe or how to get it on my phone or how to use it.

I am tempted to send the phone back because its slowing my work productivity down. I just need these simple things to work and work correctly.

If yall can just slow it down a bit and talk in laymen's terms and not the IT jargon I can probably get what you are saying. If not and its too simple for you I can move on.

I appreciate all the assistance you have given so far.. :)

installed Beta4 on Tytn and works great. Simply installed cab and did a reset...nothing else. It also did not change any of my Cingular settings.

Well, that's just it: you are attempting a fairly advanced level, unsupported hack and yet you're new the whole WM5 platform. Unfamiliar with a lot of its aspects.

Your phone already comes with SMS. It's simple. But you are complicating things because you want an unsupported hack to work.

That's why it's best to get down the basics and learn the OS before attempting to modify it.

It's analogous to learning to bypass the Windows Genuine Advantage program to install IE 7.0--it can be done but hot damn, I would never expect someone who just un-boxed a new PC to even attempt that.

So if you decide to keep it, baby steps first. Then you can learn to walk with the rest of us

Ok so why not put a warning up that this is not for newbies?

I am assuming that this forum is to assist people with problems with their particular phones. I had no idea it was this complicated and assumed byt a 20 something page thread it was to assist us with having the threaded text messages.

Is this something that my phone can handle?

What is the simple way to do this?

I don't mean to imply that you shouldn't try just that it's not exactly a walk in the park either.

Done.

As far as assistance, considering none of us get paid and we volunteer our time, I think we've been pretty helpful! I mean, we are helping. We are not ignoring your requests it just makes it difficult if you don't understand a lot of the basic terminology e.g. if you didn't know what a .cab file was, that's a sign that you may need to learn what those are (they are the equivalent of a .prc file, which wasn't obvious to me as a new Palm user).

The simple way to do this is to follow the posted directions. If you don't understand what the posted directions are referring to, then you need to read up on that (it's not too hard, those questions have been asked thousands of times).

A few issues I notice are:
1. no sound when new sms arrives and sms screen is open.
2. cant attach images to sms (get the following error on sending- "Message could not be sent. Unsupported message format. (0x88) Operation failed! Version cannot be supported.)
3. all my programs have disappeared from start menu. The only options in settings/menu/ is (2) inboxes, (2) Messaging, and several empty folders
4. also in Start/Programs all my apps are missing (except the same empty folders).

NOTE: all my apps are installed on the card

why are they now missing from Start? How do I get them back?

Not an issue. It's how the program works (I like it like that.) Outlook does the exact same thing for emails.

Well, that'd be an MMS not and SMS. As stated in the OP, MMS is not supported yet.

This actually sounds un-related to the Palm messaging. It happens like this: for some reason, you didn' t have your card in OR it failed to read. The start menu failed to register them and/or you ran MemMaid or SKTools and they were removed (as they were seen as dead links).

Only way is a pain: create new shortcuts for you apps.

Why keep them on the card, btw? It's things like this that make me keep all my apps in main mem: much more stable.
