I thought there were even problems with some 4GB cards not working... an 8GB one has less chance of working.
But, I don't know from personal experience...

The 8gig card uses SHDC, which the Treo 700wx does not support. I believe WM5 does not have the driver for it.
The 700p has a hacked driver (see XDA-Developers for that one). I use a 4gig SD card without issues in my Treo. -Chris

From what I read on TreoCentral and XDA, it's not the inability to hack the driver, it is the absence of one. Only the Palm OS has a driver. I think us WM users are out of luck for the time being.

I'm kinda new at the whole SD card thing, I do know that 2GB are not really 2GB... so, I just got a 2GB Trascend card for $12, is it normal that it shows available 1.87GB? The number just seemed a little off.
Thanks... |

The second impacts to the size is the formating. In WM5, mostly formatted in FAT or FAT16, which uses a small portion for the addressing table and any portion that can not be rounded up by binary addressing will be discarded as well. Jeff |

Cool! Thanks for the explanation!
Yeah I did notice I lost like 2MB after I formatted the card on the device! |

Ok, when I read this a few things went through my head, so I searched on Google and found some answers.
First is it possible that there is a Windows CE driver/files available that could be used): http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa447574.aspx Second, because of the size limitations (Fat vs Fat 32, reading higher than 2GB or 4GB, why couldn't the cards be partitioned to be read as 4 x 2GB: http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/forum/v...c.php?pid=1160 Any thoughts? |
