so what the bottom line is, the treo 700wx cannot in no way have mobile 6? why the hell not? is it the carrier or the phone makers itself that wont allow an upgrade such as this?
on the windows mobile home page, theres a picture of a treo 700 in someones hand thats advertising wm6 and explains all the new features, but of course theres no download option. hard ot imagine if they show it like that you would think its avail. but i guess not.

No, it's not that it can't. It's that the rom is locked to the extent that users cannot unlock it to replace it. The htc rom is such that they either don't care, or didn't do much work to lock the rom, so you can install your own. Without the software to load a new rom onto the 700, there is no way to do it. Palm could make a wm6 image if they wanted. But that's the key - if they wanted
