Yes the Palm Pre does have instant push email without the need for third party software. You also have the option to check email accounts at different time intervals. Email is much better on the Palm Pre than Windows Mobile ands it's also way more user friendly. You really can't argue that either because it's true.
I really like the "It just works" aspect of the Palm Pre.

well the point of this thread was so that I could find out if my current data plan would work with a pre and it will not, so I stay with the tp.

i work for sprint, the system wont allow a pre to be activated unless attached to an EVERYTHING DATA plan
