what would be useful is not having a pad that you have to put it on to charge. it should be like a wifi router and not make you use a stinken pad.

It still is cool, but still, since you have to plug the mat in, it kinda defeats the purpose other than paying 60$ to not have to deal with plugs when I can break my wall chargers all I want and never pay more than 10$ for replacement ones over a 2 yr period....

I'm in a random rant kind of mood right now! lol

Re: 3+ weeks w/ the pre (vs sprint touch pro)

Nothing bad to say about the Palm Pre, I will say that over and over. WebOS is raw, fresh and the future is bright. Re:Charging/Battery life>>When I owned the Palm Pre the touchstone was the best defense against the not so super battery life. But I must say it wasnt that hard to charge my Touch Pro. The charging port on the TP is more accessible than the Pre.

Re: 3+ weeks w/ the pre (vs sprint touch pro)

bought the pre, had it a week -- it does what it's supposed to do - integrates really well with the cloud and makes little things a pretty enjoyable experience. however, there are some things that it can't do, like voice recording (for recording song ideas), taking video, voice dialing (a la voice command) and battery life is terrible compared to the touch pro (can't believe i'm saying that - maybe it's because i'm using it all the time!!).

the touch pro - outdated design, but solid hardware and expandable memory. i have a few years of WinMo experience and i'm running WM6.5 on it (silence) - it does what I need it to do.

i like the size of the pre as well - but not sure of the hardware - feels cheaper than my touch pro.

not sure exactly what decision to make

any thoughts from the community?

p.s. another thought -- i'm getting horrible sprint coverage just inside my office building, which i'm in 10 hours/day - with my touch pro i was able to change the radio image and that helped tremendously - just thinking out loud here . . .

Re: 3+ weeks w/ the pre (vs sprint touch pro)

I honestly have MUCH better battery life then I ever had with my TP or Diamond and I haven't stopped with the Pre. I am constantly doing something on it. It has so much more intrigued then either the TP or Diamond ever did.

Seeing as how I had numerous quality issues with the TP and then the Diamond (hence me using Pre) I can't agree with the feeling of cheapness in comparison. I will admit the Diamond felt solid, when the hard buttons worked and the screen wasn't pushing in, but my TP felt cheap after a month of use.

I don't use any voice commands or voice recording or videos, I have a Digi Camera seeing as how I can throw it in my purse if I really need video, but the camer on this phone works wonders IMO.

My coverage is honestly better then it ever ws with any of the radios I tried, and I tried them all on both phones. I always have coverage now, which I am not used to.

I know I sound like a "fan girl"... Keep in mind I love WinMo and I ALWAYS stood by my TP and Diamond. I still love the phones, I just love this one more. I will go back to WinMow someday....maybe...when 7 comes around, but until then I am soooo much happier with what I have.

Re: 3+ weeks w/ the pre (vs sprint touch pro)

exactly well put!! carla

The funny thing about the pre is (outside of missing opera mini ) is it does what i need it to and does it well..as far a battery life.. def last longer than my diamond ( minus the mugen battery of course ) but is nowhere near what i want it to be. gonna have to get the seidio extended battery....

Im guilty of pre bashing a few months ago. but after getting another one and seeing whats around for it now..totally changed my opinion..im no way a fanboy but im very impressed..

Its funny once u get it setup.. your done no more countless hours searching for this hack or theme between here and xda etc.. I can just use my phone now without waiting for tf3d 2.5 port to come out.. or the next thing.. also with preware what i do find will be found on my pre and installed over the air.lol now if winmobile had this how freakn cool would that be..lol

just remember

Research___Play___Decide!!!! a motto everyone should use when trying to find a new smartphone.. and dont follow the hype....

feel the same way.. hell in the past 10 years ive really never use the video camera on any of my cell phones anyway..Now im using the camera all the time on the pre.. no shutter lag what so ever. the last phone i had that had a great cam was the sanyo m1..which my brother now uses..miss that phone...

selling my diamond for the pre was the best decision ive made this year.lol though i do miss custom roms and such..but am enjoying the free time i now with the pre...

just waiting for the all glossy black theme that will catch my eye..

Re: 3+ weeks w/ the pre (vs sprint touch pro)

I have been using the palm pre for about 2 months now and I like it a lot but the battery is so bad. I messed with the TP2 that my wife has now and my friends have and im beginning to think i want to go back to making Roms for the TP2 and tweaking WM. One thing i liked from the windows mobile is that with SPB backup i could backup my whole phone with all reg edits and ring tones and everything. i miss that and the screen is huge. any way im still thinking about it but i dont know what to do now.
