I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Here it is from HP's mouth: http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/pr.../100428xa.html |

Re: Looks Like HP To The Rescue
HTC wouldn't have bought it because they really wouldn't have gained anything from it, well at least I don't think they would have... the only thing they could have gained is their own OS which would probably mean they would drop Android and Microsoft OS whatever Microsoft decides to call their next OS for mobile phones.
I think that it's a bad move by HP, they could have waited and eventually Palm would have died because it seems nobody else was interested in buying Palm... waited for it to die and then go and buy WebOS cheaper!!! Just like when HP bought Compaq, HP too a dip then I think they will now.. I've never used WebOS so I'm know nothing about the OS |

Re: Looks Like HP To The Rescue
ive owned winmo, webos & now android phones and i can tell you webos is the best right below android IMO. the issue was palm didn't give sufficient hardware specs to compensate. it's sorta like our android phones, with the stock rom it's slow. but load a custom rom and the thing flies. neither the pixi or the pre have the ability to have custom roms at all, that needs to change. |

Re: Looks Like HP To The Rescue
I've heard of many people leaving WebOS devices not because of the OS but because of the hardware. In my opinion WebOS is superior to any other mobile OS but Palm did not market it as well as other manufacturers.
There is an 800Mhz patch that greatly improves the speed of the Pre. |
