Also, this is the kitchen thread. So questions and answers are going to be about the kitchen and not installing the CC20 ROM. If you post these question in the regular part of the upgrade forum more people will see it and help out.

That is what I was thinking too, just restoring what I only needed.

And I will start posting in the reg forum area. Thanx.

Okay, here is my deal. I did the UMDL, backed up all my info first, followed the instructions that 'theidoctor' said to do, everything went thru successfully. I see the updates that took place because some things look different.

Now my problem is when I turned my phone back on and tried to restore my previous apps, contacts, pix, SPB shell, etc..., my phone stays stuck on the main screen and the only thing visible is the background. No icons or anything except for the soft keys but they do not function. And the "ticker"(the red, green, yellow, blue circle thingy) just stays on my screen "spinning" as if it wants to do something.

Help!

sorry what rom did you flash, if its mine or Adryn the start screen is disable you just need to hit start after the initial flash.

I'm assuming after we rename and replace the old files we can delete them right?

Is there a way to disable cleartype? Every time I restart, it turns back on.
I haven't had this problem on other phones.

I didn't notice it until installing cc20 and custom roms. I thought, maybe, the rom made the change.
The real question is why didn't that thread show up when I searched the omnia forum?
JJ
For the love...
I just tried the search and it worked. I guess I only searched the rom forum.

Man I can't wait until I get some free time to try cooking one of these. I had my own cooked rom on my xv6700, so I have a bit of a head start since I grok the process.
This may be a dumb question but....

I still have all the kitchen files from making Apache roms, including oems I created for stuff I use like my all time favorite wnimo app: Atomic Cannon. Can I reuse that oem or do I have to rebuild it ?

You should be able o use it. Most OEMs work just fine. The big questions is will the game support the new resolution?

Having trouble upgrading the 21232 build. Upgraded the ROM file. SYS is not allowing it to rewrite some directories and their files! what am I doing wrong? I have already changed the files attributes to allow editing.](*,)

You are supposed to replace, not overwrite.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

Thanks I was trying to get back I reread the first page and answered my own question. But as a noob I have another road block. I have the kitchen upgraded but without changing anything I cannot get it to build a rom. There is some thing wrong with the Os.nb file. It will not go any further from this point. Ive read a lot of forums and think I have a good understanding of the software just unsure of the interface. If you can understand that?

For the second time I answered my own question.... I guess throwing it out there for everyone else to point and laugh gets the brain going!!

Define problem.

Do you get errors? What happens?

rustymcbain 06-07-2009 01:40 AM

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

Error only in the sense Im a noob at this, maybe reading too!! I forgot to run the c++ installer. Now I'm cooking!!!

But got a lot of questions

1. 21232 I replaced the rom and sys folders right. Do I build a rom to customize or do I customize then build?

2. sdkcerts , can it be made into a package? I need it to get task bar running but cant get a sucessful package made.

Thanks I appreciate any help!!! By the way Thanks for the work you've done everyone I know is running HTC equipment. I felt like a gimp with a stock omnia, not any more thanks to you!!=D>

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

1 Attachment(s)
I'll attach an OEM package I use that adds sdk certs.

To answer the other questions, customize, then build. Make sure that you rebased your os.nb file too. The instructions are on the first page.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

Thanks here i go!!

Do you know of a thread dealing with ground up themes for 6.5, even sounds overhaul!! Im a big geek thinking of Star Trek or Iron Man Themes all wrapped up in flash build.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

At the modaco.com forum, in the i900 rom forum, is a 6.5 goodies post. There is a template for starting your own theme.

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

Great work Adrynalyne! =D> Easily worth a pitcher for the WM 6_5-3_6 I just loaded onto my Omnia. I'll be a hard core tester, and be happy to give my feedback as I find issues. I figured out the difference between the two bins, and thanks for both. I've been chasing the GPS fix for this VZ phone and I thought it was gonna be here. Am I missing something? I've been going thru a lot of these theads, and as you can see, I'm but a lurker at this point, and not very good at this yet. So I ask for a little input to put me on the right path.
I found the "Theme Maker" settings icon doesn't do anything. and we lost the "Card Reader" from the original VZ Rom. If anyone has the card reader I sure would like to restore it.
While rebuilding my phone, I am now able to sync via bluetooth, which was a nightmare with te 6.1 ROM, Thanks for that too.
Anyway, Thanks again for taking the time for all your efforts, and look forward to more updates.

I'm thinking (deliberating) about taking the dive into cooking.
I'm on Bell mobility so I'm guessing I would need to dump my rom, as I see no Bell rom available) and cook from there?
If anyone has links or lessons to share for an initial noob chef please let me know.

cheers ~

Can't happen with Bell right now. There are no tools to use for flashing nor images to use as a base.
