Omega the easiest way to get a grip on the animations is to open an existing .gif in GIMP. Think of the "Flip Books" of years past. You know . . . the little booklets with pictures or drawings each just a little bit different that when flipped through quickly gave the impression of objects moving.

You can equate each page of the booklet with a layer of the .gif. Each layer is like a .jpg a little different than the one above or below it.

Here's a really simple .gif that's been floating around the web for years that you can open in GIMP and look at and readily wrap your head around.

yeah I wound up finding a tutorial out in the ether...but as of right now and too lazy to make each frame lol. I'll get to it eventually. As of right now I Went back to Adrynalyne's 1.3 ROM, with a full restore. When I get the time and energy I will make some .gifs and work on my own ROM again. But for now I'll stick with his...though I have been getting a lot of windows errors since flashing back...but I had flashed to a new rom I had made right before then flahed back then restored...all on a fairly warm day..might want to reflash with a nice cool phone lol.

Ok not wanting to alarm anyone, or sound like i'm trolling. But can you add a md5 cause McAfee found a Trojan in the origianl kitchen. Likely a false positive, but would like to be sure. Thanks

thats hilarious :evil4:, i got into my phone flashing and got away from wow, now the kitchen is here i cancelled my account alltogether, i cant beleive this is more addicting than WoW, im just trying to figure out now which order everything needs to be done in, i found a ton of how to's but they are mostly "heres how you do this and that" not " do this then this, and when you see this, do this"

Syakr is a removal/tweaking app. OEMs will show up when you build the rom, not in Syakr.

Will there be a 1.4 kitchen?

Adrynalyne 05-20-2009 10:13 PM

Re: Verizon i910 Kitchens Ready

I don't have any plans to release any kitchens past 1.3. Not because I am secretive, but because its a huge upload, and I have a crappy internet provider. Big uploads stink. ROMs are bad enough as is. As it is, the difference between 1.3-1.4 is a few more files removed that werent needed, an OEM application added, and a dll added from an i900 rom. The FrankenROM lives!! :D

You will find that I am a very supportive chef. If you want to know how I did something, I will tell you. Just ask! :)

This will put 6.5 on your device and then you can learn the kitchen if you want to.

Those are ROMs. You have to download them to a PC, unzip, and then use another app called UMDL (I think that's the name) and flash that way...there are good instructions here:

http://theidoctor.org/omnia.html

Okay, im on this site now(which someone else told me about before). Im dl'ing the UMDL and both links to my PC now.
Now what is this "flash" stuff? I keep seeing/reading that but have NO IDEA what it is or how to do it?

syrguy1969 05-22-2009 04:45 PM

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

The two links you listed are the same, one is just a mirror of the other in case someone can't get to that site, or it gets deleted. After the download is complete normally you have a zip file, but for this one it was uploaded without zipping, so you will have a bin file.

Flashing is basically replacing one OS with another, like if you took a PC running Windows XP and 'flashed' it to run Vista (why I wouldn't know....) so when you flash your phone to this bin file, it will have a different look and run WM 6.5 instead of the 6.1 on it now.

When your ready to begin, you need to open activesync on the PC and uncheck 'allow USB connection' (not sure why, but you do).

Open UMDL, and hit the PDA button near the top left side and in the selection menu, navigate to the bin file and select it. There will be an indicator bar showing it loading into UMDL.

Next, press the top button on the Omnia until it powers down, clich Detect on the UMDL screen (almost on the bottom left side) and plug the Omnia into the PC with the USB cord. Once that is all done, press the top button on the Omnia to power it back up (you will see a flash of a battery symbol, then you can release) and you will see things happen.

UMDL will give you status reports od detecting, loading..... and the Omnia will give you messages and a meter of the loading process as well. Don't do anything until it is done, UMDL will say it is complete and the Omnia will reboot.

Only do this on a full charge, and please read the other (better written) instructions as well, I wouldn't want to see you wind up with a brick because of a mis-step.

P.S. Assuming this is your first flash, if you wanted to unlock the GPS, you need to do the ROM flash on the idoctor page I sent you first, and then this one to get 6.5.

Confusing I know, it does get easier though!!!

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

(Geez. I thought no one would ever respond)
Okay, here is my deal. I did the UMDL, backed up all my info first, followed the instructions that 'theidoctor' said to do, everything went thru successfully. I see the updates that took place because some things look different.

Now my problem is when I turned my phone back on and tried to restore my previous apps, contacts, pix, SPB shell, etc..., my phone stays stuck on the main screen and the only thing visible is the background. No icons or anything except for the soft keys but they do not function. And the "ticker"(the red, green, yellow, blue circle thingy) just stays on my screen "spinning" as if it wants to do something.

Help!

blazingwolf 05-22-2009 08:52 PM

Re: Verizon i910 6.1 and 6.5 Kitchens Ready

Don't do a restore of everything. Only restore email and contacts and such. Then install your programs from scratch. This should get you up and running.

Also, this is the kitchen thread. So questions and answers are going to be about the kitchen and not installing the CC20 ROM. If you post these question in the regular part of the upgrade forum more people will see it and help out.
