Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 - Official Price $349.99 (100 rebate - 2 yr commit DS) - 9-8-2

If Microsoft is releasing WM 6.5 on Oct. 6th can one assume that the Sprint TP2 will be upgraded from 6.1 shortly?

It might be worth waiting for that to happen as in a few weeks we also might see a lower price.

I was fortunate enough to have the HTC Diamond collecting dust...so I sold my TP on Craigslist for $200. That brings my total TP2 purchase price to $150!
That's great! and I could sell my lawnmower for $100 and my iPod for $100, and so then the TP2 would actually be -$50 for me. Wow!

except that none of this hides the fact that Sprint's official 2yr contract price for its TP2 is $350 (including $100 MIR)... (nor that some will be taxed for the full $600)...

Since Sprint isn't getting the D2, I think I'm gonna get the TP2 to to tide me over until the Hero is out.

I have someone who needs an out of contract phone that will pay 200 for my TP1

But I do not want to use my 2 year upgrade on a TP2. Is that wrong?? Lololol

This price makes sense to me. I'm not going to pay it, but it makes sense. After all, Sprint is not requiring Everything plans on WinMo phones and never has, so how can we all expect to get huge subsidized prices when some of us pay 30 bucks or less a month for our plans!

I expect the Hero will be $199 just like the Pre was when it launched and will require an Everything plan to cover the hardware costs.

I can envision other sites offering the TP2 for $200, but maybe only to new customers. Those new customers might be required to sign a 2 year on an Everything plan, thus making up the difference in upfront cost.

Because Sprint does require either the Everything data plans or the $30 data pack for smartphones. The SERO thing is a fluke, comprising a TINY segment of the customer base, and therefore it cannot be the basis upon which to decide a device's pricing. Beside which it no longer is clear that SERO customers are eligible for the MIR... which means that the "SERO factor" is already factored in...

I was also thinking to sell my Touch Pro on Craigslist. Going to sell it maybe between $200-$250. Then head to best buy.

I get what you're saying...but like anything: You have to pay to play.

You don't like the price? Don't buy it.

Sprint isn't really getting any new customers last time I checked. Most people buying winmo phones on Sprint were already on Sprint, and their old plan plus data is enough. Sprint doesn't make you switch your plan. They just let you extend your contract 2 years on the existing plan. I wasn't just talking about Sero. I'm talking about all of the grandfathered in plans that no one is going to ditch if they don't have to.

Sprint isn't going to sell that many Touch Pro 2s, just like they didn't sell that many other HTC winmo phones. Its a smaller market, hence my original point that they can't subsidize something that they aren't selling in high volume and not requiring pricey plans.
