The new theme looks ok...but personally, I preferred the old one (I know how hard it is to convert themes to new versions, so I don't expect it back).

The old theme was easy to read. I like bright text on dark backgrounds, I find it much easier on the eyes.

And, the old theme was distinctive. I knew I was at PPCGeeks without even reading anything...now it looks like most standard vb installs.

bottom left, hit the dropdown and use okd layout.

Unfortunately no, FireFox doesn't support glowing text, that's an IE only function.
