Re: Win Mobile 7 release update
After seeing so many reports regarding the performance of the latest batch of devices on Qualcomm, I just cant bring myself to blame WM for all of the sighted faults:
http://www.glbenchmark.com/compare.j...4=Apple iPhone Perhaps i was mistaken on TouchFlo not being 3D accelerated, but I did read on XDA about the OpenGL implementation being executed on the "CPU" rather than the GPU, through a wrapper. Maybe I misread the thread. The hardware of a device has so many repercussions on the evolution of the software. With devices that can barely handle smooth kinetic scrolling, why would anyone dedicate their time to writing software that has an interface that can impress, or write a complex and visually intense game if there is no device that can run it (or at least devices that are in the hands of most people)? The iPhone has a very impressive PowerVR graphics core, which is why its interface runs so smoothly. Im sorry, but a VGA screen and WVGA is just too much for these old Qualcomm processors. From what ive seen of the TG01, it looks like the Snapdragon is the minimum for these devices. And i dont think that is due to WM. |

Whether most of us think it's silly or not, fashion overrides function for the masses. Not that I don't like my TouchFlo... :P |

HTML Code:
NVIDIA Tegra 650 also features: All-day media processing, for 130 hours audio, 30 hours HD video playbackHD image processing for advanced digital still camera and HD camcorder functionsOptimized hardware support for Web 2.0 applications for a true desktop-class internet experienceDisplay support for 1080p HDMI, WSXGA+ LCD and CRT, and NTSC/PAL TV-OutDirect support for WiFi, disk drives, keyboard, mouse, and other peripheralsA complete Board Support Package (BSP) to enable fast times to market for Windows Mobile-based designs ![]() But one thing that people dont realize is that MS doesnt make their own mobile hardware. Unlike Apple,Palm and Blackberrie. And technicaly their Software cant be optimized for every piece of hardware on the market, unfortunately. This is what MS's competitors have an advantage over. And I also agree that "fashion" is the key for most consumers. Its about how appealing it is. Most poeple are quite "ignorant" they invest their money in something new that they have no clue about. But all of these consumers always show their devices off no matter what they do and dont know. To them it "cost alot"... as my father said you get what you pay for. In the tech industry this is not always the case. But with this one the mind of every consumer and the fact that the device is very appealing to the eye. People will buy. To them it was "shinny and dazzling" when they bought it. Others "mostly older consumers", I have noticed, buy a device based on usablity. Meaning they make sure the Text is hugh and the buttons are bigg enough to see the text on them and to push. Also, they make sure it is "comfortable" for their daliy use. Too small or too big. Sorry if I ranted a little :P |

Agreed! I have many "non tech" friends who like the iPhone only because it looks nicer than others. One told me that the iPhone was easier to use because it was "a button press away."
