Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC

You can debate the worthiness of the upgrade for all carriers - except verizon. If (and that's a big IF) verizon doesn't gimp the TP2 I will go straight from the titan to the TP2. The current VZ TP is so bad that it makes me wonder if VZ knew about the TP2 and gimped the TP to force more people to upgrade when they release it in 2010.

Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC

im getting whatever is released after the TP2...not quite enough upside for me to switch. Then have the new "HTC OMG" or whatever come out (for any idiots i made that name up) and im stuck with a TP2. But thats just me...

Well, at least the D2 and TP2 will be 'officially' upgradable to WM7.

dunno where youre getting that info from because nothing is "official" about wm7 or device specs needed.

First of all, there will likely be higher hardware requirements, and seeing as wm7 is multitouch, old devices wont work.

Second, by the time wm7 is out in 2010, they will want you to purchase a new device, exactly what theyre doing with 6.5 and the "flag" button or else you cant upgrade it.

The TP is only 6 months old and wont support 6.5, what makes you think the TP2/Diamond2 released this year will be upgraded to wm7 next year, and not force new hardware from a business stnadpoint?

Id be willing to bet no wm7 on anything coming out this year, especially because of hardware requirements to run 7.

Hey, I'm just going by what HTC said last week at MWC, saying that both phones would get the upgrade. Could that change? Sure, but for now that's all we've got.

Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC

they said 6.1->6.5, nothing about 7. 7 wont be out until mid-late 2010 and hasnt even been officially aanounced by MS, let alone HTC saying theyll upgrade their current devices

I agree with the above poster, by the time WM7 is out, the TP3 or even TP4 will be out and rocking our worlds.

Well, for the most part I'll take a TP2 as long as they boost the memory and can stand a little damage.

FM transmitter on touch pro2

I would love to see a fm TRANSMITTER replace the fm RADIO inside the touch pro2. Having a phone with a screen that big with GPS, a-gps, fm transmitter, bluetooth, 528MHz processor and internet access for updates would totally replace my standalone unit. I'm on sprint and they disabled the radio to begin with. There wouldn't be anything that a standalone is able do that the phone couldn't. And while we're on it, 2gb ROM instead of the 512mb so i can fit the maps on it and not use the memory on an microsd card!!!
