Re: Windows Mobile 6.5 in the Wild!
Also remeber that this is from the Blue Angel. the flash file is only 36mb. the newer sys are over 80 mb at least. compress that is about 40 mb. okay that is core system. and no oem. so he has to have oem in there has well. you add flash, and Pie6. that is 10 mb. so i am sure he had to strip a lot out of there in order for it to be able to flash unto the Blue Angel.

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5 in the Wild!
Beta releases are always a little on the ugly side. Functionality (core OS) is more important than looks and polish.
For those of you phreaking out about how ugly it is or how it's not aesthetically pleasing, you should really wait until a final beta or official release is done to pass judgment.

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5 in the Wild!
I remember when the leaks about WinMo 7 came out...complete with motion controls and other such things. They need to continue with that and shoot for announcement of it by the end of this year and it coming out sometime in 2010.
6.5 needs to be a pretty decent shake up though. A change to the today screen UI would be essential. They've got to at least START to make the progress towards a touch screen friendly UI, even if they create a secondary WinMo Touch type thing. Seeing the old style program launcher was disheartening, and the today screen looked uninspiring at best. You've got NUMEROUS third parties creating UI's for Windows Mobile that are successful, with TouchFlo3D being the current king. There is so much there for MS to take, look at, build off of, and go from and it is going to be pathetic if after all of that they still put something out that will make people go "God I wish I had Touchflo3D on here". I understand changing up the "core" functionality and making things zippier, and that IS needed, but you've got the iPhone devouring WinMo, blackbery still going strong, and the Pre coming out of the gate like Jesus just returned and he brought cookies. They've GOT to update that UI at least a bit to look like its not something from out of 2001. |
