It probably will be considering those look like the multimedia power houses. I mean why else would u need a kickstand on the thing for? Its like the tilt/kaiser for better video viewing.

Re: HTC USING nVidia Tegra processor for future devices

Well I hope they a) hurry up and b) get some good software to match the hardware. I have been watching this thing develop for a while but they let Palm get the jump on them with the Pre which has some wicked new hardware as well as some really nice looking software. I can hold off until maybe Summer/Fall on upgrading my Mogul but I'm worried that there won't be software to take advantage of this for a little while (WM7?)

Re: HTC USING nVidia Tegra processor for future devices

Like a PP mentioned, the Tegra has to be paired with the Ericsson EMP chip or a Qualcomm equivalent due to the fact that Tegra doesn't have a radio built-in, i.e. GSM/GPS/EDGE. My concern is that Ericsson is a GSM platform whereas Qualcomm deals with CDMA. Not a problem if you're on AT&T and TMO, but on I'm Sprint, and I've had enough of Qualcomm crap, so unless someone knows that Ericsson deals in both CDMA and GSM (which I don't think they do) I'm worried Sprint/Verizon won't be getting a version of the next "stone."

Does that make any sense? My thoughts are the Firestone is the GSM version and the Whitestone is for CDMA. So who makes the radio for CDMA if Tegra is onboard? I don't suppose anyone can answer that yet. Anyway, if you look on nVidia's website they clearly state that handsets with the Tegra chip will start shipping mid-2009. I look for both aforementioned models to hit shelves 2H09 or 3Q -- August/September/October.

The Tegra 650 that is targeted for handheld devices has the following specifications:
Combined with HTC's faith fullness to underrated batteries i'm sure this will be a big hit.
I guess they understand we live in a world where there should be an electrical outlet within 50 feet of every moment of your existence.

Re: HTC USING nVidia Tegra processor for future devices

I can't wait to get my hands on one of the new HTC devices running this. I'm on AT&t, so i'm not worried about the whole CDMA thing either. However, I can't imagine they would willingly leave all that Sprint and Verizon money on the table...

Here's some more info (and some awesome videos):
http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/16/h...formance-phon/

http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/02/n...hone-mid-game/

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/0...egra-on-video/

Battery life seems pretty dang good if it really does 30 hours of HD video. They showed it taking less than 1/10 the power of an Intel Atom in the video- and it was doing HD while the Intel was doing SD. I am way excited about an HTC Windows Mobile device running on this Tegra system.

Hopefully we'll see it this year, with a tilting screen.

The truth is painful sometimes. I hope we have some changes coming soon on the CDMA side....Qualcomm has been f'n with us for quite a while now.
