are u kidding me? within their 3mile radius of their 3g covarge OMG are we in the 1970's why havent they gotten full covergae of their 3g? what if i have to travel... and the buttons look my nintendo's controller from the 1980's

Pretty much sums it up. Nice try for a first generation effort. I'll hold out for the Treo Pro but that's just me.

There is no "The Android". This is just the first device that will use Google's new OS and that is why people are excited. This is a powerful and versatile OS that will compete with WinMo and others for the mobile market. It's the kind of thing you can run on a PMP, carputer, smartphone, etc. and allows free access to hundreds of free and open apps. Any time a new competitor (especially one as respected as Google) makes an entry into the mobile OS market, phone geeks will be psyched.

Whether or not you like the G1 is almost secondary as it is just the first of many Android-based devices to come. I like the competition so that's why I am excited

Good points. but I know android pretty well. Sorry if I was misunderstood. I think my post was taken to literal. I know there is no "the android" I know android is an OS and g1 is the 1st device. I use the android just a referal to the topic. anyways. what I meant was, what feature does the android have that was never seen b4? and everyone likes it a lot?I know about the built in compass that was demoed. it's cool yeah. but for how long? When I saw it the 1st time, I was like ohh ahhh. but after awhile, i was "nah, there should be more to a phone than just the GPS" If U like GPS a lot, get the nuvi. If U like fast response on touch, There's the iphone. People all over the net is like android will kill this, android will kill that. with what?Even In the Touch HD video, the guys is like," HTC, make an android of this" What will it change if it has android in it? I don't see that point really. I think WM is the best OS overall and it is irreplaceable.Android in the otherhand is an awesome OS but is overrated.

When android was annouced, People already assumed it will compete with WM and OSX. Yeah, naturally. But that is not even google's intentions. Google want's to sell cell phones. And only 19% is on the smartphone market. The rest of 81% is on the what they call "feature phone". That is what google is targeting. In other words "profit". read the article below.

If the OS runs faster with less hiccups, then it's better to most of the PDA users out there with dated hardware.

I think it's the hope of something different that stokes people. Yeah, there is some M$ hate, but the competition could make both rise to the occasion with us benefitting.

I agree. But I will take an OS with hiccups that has everything I need any day
