PPC Graphics Chips-What's your future preference?

The iphone is ahead of the game not only with their processor, but with their OS as well, built new from the ground up, instead of building on the old the MS way... however, the vids do show the new graphics chips as having the same abilities in terms of vid playback.

Totally agree on that. I just forgot to mention the OS. But isn't it Iphone OS is just a lite version of OSX? So it's not totally build from scrap.
Yeah, the Nvidia chip Win CE with Opengl totally match if not surpass the Iphone ability to play videos. With 800mhz ARM CPU plus it's onboard HD video and audio decoder, Hmmm yummy! Not only that, Even the UI will blow Iphone OS away. I never imagine. Really excited to see this device in flesh.

SAME abilities??!! The iPhone does not come even close to playing back video at 720p let alone recording it AND exporting it via HDMI to an HD TV lol! The iPhone is a joke phone. It has a big screen. End of story. Any other smartphone owns in in terms of capability and any phone based on this Tegra platform will basically set a new standard for all phones. Looks like no one will be close for a least 2 years.

Bro, Iphone can output 1080p if somebody can come up with a cable.

"Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats." Directly from the iPhone tech page... That is supported for playback FYI. The screen will only show 480x320.

Bro, If U believe or follow the specs, Ur device will almost be useless. This is why we go to forums to unlock the true power of our devices. Yeah the screen will only show 480x320. It is because that is the maximum res of the display. imagine this, my monitor's max res is 1280x800. I have an option up to 1600x1200. What would happen if I select that res? I know U know what i'm talking about. That is why Iphone needs to output the 1080p so will be viewable on a display that is capable of 1080p. The point is, Iphone's hardware is really hardcore.

I fully understand all that. My point was not that it cannot play a 1080p video, I can do that on my WM phone also (albeit very choppily), rather that the screen will not display over 320 lines of resolution. Your monitor example is flawed in that a monitor has a native res AND a max res. Phones are not big enough to have this, hence we only have the max res, and the iPhone's is not 1080p.

The Tegra 2500 screen IS 720p (the 650 is 1080p) AND it can record video at that res AND output it to a TV via HDMI. Why we are even discussing the iPhone is beyond me though.

Tegra screen? this topic was about the processors themselves... hence, the choppiness you'd experience in the current WM phones. Tegra vs. Intel's Atom (aka Silverthorne)... one thing i know for sure is that Tegra chip needs to come out so their stock goes up!! I'm gettin killed right now.
