Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail
This is all over the net, and all over this site. I have been doing a lot of looking around and found what I believe is the reason we suddenly can't use the Arcsoft MMS to send picmail. The answer is Sprint is blocking Pocket PC customers from using "Third party" apps to send picmail. Blocking. Not a new server IP, not another hack will work. Therefore if you have a Sprint # that is to your PPC, they have set the MMS server to deny access, forcing us to send pix via e-mail. There is an active petition at Sprint's forum, I'd suggest anyone to sign up and add your complaint.
Site: www.buzzaboutwireless.com The petition: http://forums.buzzaboutwireless.com/...thread.id=2455 Edit (Malatesta) Full Story on the history and details fo the Sprint "no MMS on WM" policy. I suggest it for those not familiar and looking to catchup. Story: Sprint, MMS and Windows Mobile: Why They Hatin'? |
Yes, we kinda suspected this was the case. However, their "defense" will be that these devices were never advertised to have Picture Mail. Hopefully this will push them to make some changes.

I seriously doubt it

mms???
hey guys I googled some info ....... sprint signed a cotract with verizon for mms with a bunch of carriers this is to boost usage ?????????? it's all starting to make cents $$$$$ I wonder if they are trying to pull this off as a new service to charge ppc users for it ? hope not .But at least it's a small light at the end of the tunnel.....LOL!!!
|
what was the date on this article?
|
I can't help but think that Sprint should have more important things to do than to utilize employees and allocate resources to ensure that customers paying for data packages cannot send Picture Mail. What a waste.
|
this is what i found and its old news 2005:
http://www.xchangemag.com/hotnews/57h2783335.html |
mms ???
not sure date but it said they signed agreement saturday or something and that verizon said compatability between all carriers would be available around summer, google sprint verizon mms contract and you'll get a bunch of info att ,tmobile ,etc......... all the carriers are getting in on it ......:angry7: that's it the link above me good work buddy......I couldn't find it again lol!!! tkanks!!!!!!!!except now they have more updated articles as well
|
google sprint verizon mms contract they are already signing a big deal for mms with a bunch of carriers question is the the F^$%#ers try to charge us for this so called new service?????
|
The question I have is... why? What would it benefit Sprint to block PPC users from sending Picmail? Do they not think that business users send pictures?
|
they just want us to pay for it.........I think!

I also have the plan wrapped with Pic Mail that I pay for and it is obsolete on these machines. So stu?!% that an advance machine like this (mogul, for me) is not supported because sprint can't hold their own! A $40 dollar phone with a camera can send MMS but PPC's Can't?!?! What the finger in the middle!
|
rofl....you guys are soooo right!! Sprint needs to wake up and put pic mail on all PPCs!!!
|
well when i got my internet plan is said mms picture mail included for free so i dunno
|

well they shouldnt do this, it cant be that difficult or that much of a financial strain on them to enable this, especially when every other national carrier supports this on ppc's. Us ppc users probably account for less then 10% of sprints customers, so i cant imagine that including pic mail with smartphones will do any damage when it comes to mms server traffic.
Also, i am willing to bet you that most mogul users ARE NOT business people. They arent the only ones who want smart devices. more and more of us want a converged media device in our pockets, that can keep us connected to email, internet, IMers, and music and videos, so as data rates become cheaper and cheaper and the prices on these smart devices keep coming down, you can bet your arse there will be more and more people who have smartphones, who will be PISSED cuz they cant send pics!!!!! lol |
In my opinion, and not that it counts any... I think Sprint is setting themselves for failure when it comes to handling their products. I don't know if it's a business move or they are just plain ignorant of how the cell industry is going. It seems that when a great feature is introduced that brings reliability to the industry, they are the only ones that refuse to apply it. But they will charge you for a plan that promises plenty and offers you less.

sux cuz the Palm OS phones can send picmail...sprints all about crippling products to keep balance.
jus use the email and send it to the mms address of the carrier. keep it movin... |

Sorry if this has already been covered, but does anyone have a list of the mms email addresses for the large carriers? I know the carrier for most of my frequent contacts and this would be a great tool until proper mms gets worked out again. Thanks, 5gear. |

umm... sprint sucks.. and i got the employyeeeeee plan.. and they still suck =\
time cures everything i guess.. we will have pic.vid mail soon ~~ |
Funny thing,
I have the plan that says I have picture mail, I'm giving spring money for free. There must be something we can do. Has anyone wrote to the BBB about this? I was up and running good until Jan 30, 2008 and then there was the message "Message Delivery Failed. Or Message Receipt Failed." Sprint is so wack for this one. The entire nation should try sending picture mail all at once and see if we can over-load this new encription. |
Someone said they blocked all PPC phones, my 6600 had pic mail on it from Sprint, do they still work?I a Touch a week ago because I would get text messages from people sending it to other people.
|
I dont know if this will help anyone but, ive been doin this since mms has stop working. I email a picture to my self xxx-xxx-xxxx@pm.sprint.com using outlook or windows live. I recieve the picture in a text, once i open it up theres options to forward reply etc....you can forward the pic from here by just using phone numbers ( you just have to type them all in hopefully you kno them by heart). Or you can just log into your pic mail account and send them from there. I kno its seems like a bit much but it actually isnt..............I dont kno if this is anything new to you guys, hell youve probably been doin this already. BUT PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS WAS OF ANY HELP TO ANYONE. and if i posted it in the right thread................IM STILL A NOOB!!!!!!!!!!!LOL
|
im pretty sure you cant use sprints web service to send pic mail. At least I thought someone stated that.
|
well what i do is send tha pic to my sprint.pm account then when i recive the pic on my mogul i open tha pic and then forward it to any number i chose to its a long stupid process but it gets tha job done hope this help even tho we wish it was an alternative but a sprint guy said i can send a pic by putting in there number.pm.sprint or something like that which sux sux major balls............. peace pimp juice
|
|
The phone itself is probably capable of doing MMS so preproduction it was listed as having it. Sprint has clearly disabled that feature. Other companies have probably not.

not to burst your bubble, thats a generic spec sheet, not sprint only. so some carriers support it some dont. |
sprint fixing mms LOL!!!!!!!!!!
yet another great reply and job not well done by sprint. yet again they did nothing, are they even smart enough to understand the problem, thier fix was for ??????????????? start at bottom and read up as they are sent messages then replies. I had to erase part of first message as it was to long
I Would like to thank sprint for doing nothing for a long lasting customer. The person helping me this is not your fault, your hands are tied. This little "fix" sprint sent was good for what?..... it does nothing. I still obviously cannot text pics, like I was discussing all along. I dont know what they thought they were fixing but obviously not the problem cause nothing has changed!!!!!!!Thanks for the fix that gives me what I already had---NO PICTURE TEXting CAPABILITIES LIKE EVYONE ELSE OUT THERE WITH SPRINTS MOST EXPENSIVE PHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AT LEAST THERE WAS A HACK THAT USED TO WORK, BUT SPRINT FOUND A WAY TO BLOCK THAT TOO. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE KEPT MY OLD CRAPPY CHEAP PHONE THAT I DIDNT HAVE TO PAY MORE FOR POWER VISION ON, BUT ATLEAST I COULD INSTANT TEXT PICS!!!!!!!!!! THOUGHT I WOULD BUY A BETTER PHONE AND GET AWAY FROM MY CAVEMAN PHONE, BUT INSTEAD SPRINT MADE ALOT OF MONEY OFF OF ME ON AN EXPENSIVE PHONE THAT COMES BEFORE THE DINOSAUR ERA AND DOESNT EVEN TEXT PICS. SPRINT SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE HACK ALONE, ATLEAST IT WORKED BETTER THAN THE SOFTWARE THAT YOU BLOCKED ON THIS EXPENSIVE PHONE WITHOUT THE NICE FEATURE ALL THE CHEAP PIECES OF CRAP OUT THERE HAVE. FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!!!! MAKE IT WORK, OR CALL ME AND EXPLAIN WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS, YOU HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER. MAYBE NEXT CALL IS TO BETTER BUSINESS BUREA, CAUSE BY THE WAY, PACKAGE I PAY FOR ON PHONE SAYS IT DOES PICTURE MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!!!! MAKE IT WORK, OR CALL ME AND EXPLAIN WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS, YOU HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER. > Date: Wed, 6 Feb 2008 18:44:51 -0600 > From: ecare3@cc.sprintpcs.com > To: *************MSN.COM > Subject: RE: Care #**************** (Plans, Features, and Services - PictureMail) (*****************) > > Dear Brian *********, > > Thank you for contacting Sprint. > > I do apologize for the misinformation. so angry..Damn that rap music!!
I agree though. Sprint does seem to have an anal cranial inversion. One of these days the fecal matter is gonna have a dramatic interface with a rapidly rotating room air re-distributor. |

this is a real big inconvenience!!! why would sprint be such a-holes and take away a feature that comes on a everyday phone. as much money I shelve out per month, I demand good service! by sprint doing what they did, they also made it hard for me to do things with this phone that are work related. im seriously thinking about getting rid of sprint and go with another carrier
