Sprint to announce wimax phone jan 6th?

also, if i'm not mistaken it's supposed to be sprint, lg, and microsoft making this press release (i could be wrong) and the only reason i forsee microsoft involved would either be a winmo 6.5 device (likely) or winmo 7 (hopefully). sprint hasn't completely disappointed me so far and i can only hope that the suspense that they have built up in all of us ends up being worth it. i'm still not an LG fan but if that is what the release is all about, i'm sure there will be HTC devices to soon follow.

then again, the three companies may not have a major joint release... this could just be lg saying that they just have a lotus 2, that sprint's wimax network will be done in 2010, and that sprint will release winmo 6.5 for the tp2 by 3rd quarter 2010.

With that being said, how can you really talk about relaseing WM7 if you still didnt release WM6.5? You shouldnt be proud of that, to me thats a half A** Job right. All Im sayin is that compared to what the other carriers are getting or alrady have Sprint got the short end of the stick and on top of that the only thing known to look forward to is and LG Wimax phone that you prolly cant even travel with and get consistence wimax service. Since when did you hear people talkin about thats new LG phone.... Think about it, I'll wait.... never.

i seriously doubt that they are going to release wm7 however for as much flack that sprint has gotten that they are the last to get the 6.5 overhaul.... i can't really think of a better way to upstage the competion. then again, we all know that the latest 6.5.x build isn't exactly stable so i seriously doubt 7 is coming very soon. oh and as for reference, look at the ppcgeeks news page http://www.ppcgeeks.com/2010/01/06/l...-ship-in-2010/ . i'm going to wait and see what this new lg looks like, i figure worst case if i end up getting it and hating it there are enough noobs out there that i could easily offload it on craigslist for a nice chunk. my tp2 though, you'd have to pry it outta my cold dead hands. i live in columbus ohio and know for a fact that wimax installations are going on here so i'm all about a new device.

I agree with this whole post. Sprint has gotten the short end of the stick (intrepid is a sad excuse for the only winmo 6.5 phone they have, and they have no full touch screen 6.5 capable phone like imagio or pure) and i'm not looking forward to a new LG phone, especially since it will more then likely be an android. The last good phone that lg made was the fusic and i don't believe they've ever made a pda. If LG wants to make a winmo 6.5 phone it will not have HTC sense, so how bad will anybody want that?

all I know is we have a little more time before the announcement. I think i withhold judgement until I hear what they have to say. Let's hope it's something positive. Sprint certainly doesnt want to be the Chrysler of the cellphone biz but it is what it is. Maybe they will announce a supercool Dodge Challenger, I mean HD2 with a hemi, I mean snapdragon tonight

I just thought about it, Sprint is getting punked. both droids sprint have are weaker in specs compared to the verizon droids. Verizon and tmobile are getting the "actual" google phone in nexus, att can just pop their sim card in and be fine, and Sprint will be left holding a damn LG droid. That ish isn't fair. Sprint bring on HD2.

Im still a Sprint customer and plan to be one for a while I think but at the say time it seems like now a days the carrier is more like this is wat the public is asking for so we bring it and with Sprint its like well maybe they might like this but if not alt least we gave you a nice plans. Look at the commercials.

only one to blame is sprint itself. I personally don't understand the direction they travel. but if they continue the direction they have traveled, theyll be stuck with a Chinese droid instead of an LG. it still cracks me up that they claimed exclusivity with the pre. lol!!

Predictions for the Sprint Conference...

I think it will be a lackluster blab fest about 4g with little news, and no announcement or release of any new devices. Probably switching to t-mobile to get the Nexus One soon.
