SD Card Managment

Just got my Droid this afternoon, way cool, Still trying to get it all set up..

First problem I have encountered that I can't figure out on my own. I have some pictures I want on my SD card that I don't necessarily want displayed in the gallery.. ( I Know ) any ideas???

Re: SD Card Managment

I recall reading somewhere if you create a folder on your SD card and name it with a 'period' as the first digit, it will be ignored by the gallery.
example - sdcard\.mypics

Re: SD Card Managment

Putting a period in front of the folder name does indeed hide it from the phone. Any pics in the folder will not show up in the gallery nor will they show in the pics menu when you are selecting a wallpaper. They will still show up in astro file manager unless you go into the astro options and unselect the option to show hidden folders. There is also an app called "hide it" that will password protect certain files.

Re: SD Card Managment

Hiding the directory with the period prefix works but a) you may need to maintain the real directory name and b) doesn't hide images in subdirectories not similarly prefixed (unless I'm mistaken).

The trick I use is to have a 0 byte file in the directory called .nomedia. This will hide images in this and all subdirectories from Gallery and let you use the directory name of your choice.
