Re: flash 10.1/pinch-zoom multi touch/OTA update
Oh yeah, I totally agree with you. If it weren't for the iphone there would be no competition. And remember competition benefits the end user the most. And I don't think apple is going to sit idle and let android or winmo take over again. I thought it was odd that the 3gs came out with no significant hardware enhancements. Either apple wanted to see just how strong their kool aid really is or the tech to do what the next iphone is designed to isn't cheap enough yet to justify it.
I know apple was working on solar panels behind the screen to charge the phone. And that's just one of the things rumored to be going on behind the scenes. I hope apple keeps it up. That way we'll keep getting the hardware enhancements too....of course I want to keep my open source OS though. |

Re: flash 10.1/pinch-zoom multi touch/OTA update
Well...
I for one won't hold my breath for dec.11 update. Why? OTA update will be fixing bugs with current problems that they've being having (calls quality, camera, ect...). I'd expect fixes not added features Flash 10.1? hmm...don't know about that. Multitouch? Here is Motorola's answer: http://www.gearlog.com/2009/11/droid...uch_gestur.php. Basically, It ain't gonna happened. We all know that HTC Eris has multitouch so it's not Verizon fault. Does anybody hear anything from Google about multitouch for Droid's default apps? Pinch to Zoom already exists for the Droid. It just doesn't work out of the box. Get the Dolphin browser and pinch to zoom works just fine. Current belief is that Google did not add it to base apps because of a patent issue with Apple. Google isn't talking so all we have is rumor. Besides, pinch to zoom does not kill this device. As for Flash, it has already been announced that flash is coming for Android in 2010. Should be easy enough to add to your device by yourself.

Re: flash 10.1/pinch-zoom multi touch/OTA update
As I understand it the dec 11th update is for fixes. Though I expect the flash update to be ota too....for crying out loud everything on market place comes ota? And flash is official. Just do a search and you'll see. Of course it's still up to verizon/moto if they will allow it ( though I see no reason not too ) but it's always a variable with updates. I've read some 20 sources about the update and all are the same, on the internet that's pretty good chances they are all right?
As far as multitouch, here's your answer right from the link you posted. Does it surprise anyone that verizon disabled a feature? Not I. |

Re: flash 10.1/pinch-zoom multi touch/OTA update
@kbnguy, as stated above, Droid does have pinch to soom capability. I have 3 applications on my Droid already that use pinch to zoom. That being said, I really dont use it. I generally use my phone with one hand navigating with my thumb, so for me personally the pinch to zoom is nowhere near as convenient as just double tapping. As far as flash 10.1, its been officially announced that it's coming to ALL of the mobile phone operating systems except for the iPhone. The iPhone will probably get flash in about 2 years and when it does they will have a slew of commercials advertizing the iPhones flash capability and acting like its the most innovative feature the world has ever seen even though its years behind the competition (just like copy/paste, mms, and video recording).

Re: flash 10.1/pinch-zoom multi touch/OTA update
I understand that this is all speculation, but this doesn't make sense since both the Hero on Sprint and Eris both have it. Or does this have something to do with HTC?

The Hero and Eris run Android but are changed by HTC to run SenseUI and whatever else HTC puts on it. |
