Re: App that roots/OCs/multi-touches and tethers for $5

I think the 1ghz setting did steal a little battery life. Phone idle was using a lot more than it seemed like it should have been. I moved it back down to 800mghz and the difference in performance from 1 ghz seems negligible, but my battery life is back up where it used to be.

Do not flash back to the stock with this program. It makes the program unusable/disappear.

Re: App that roots/OCs/multi-touches and tethers for $5

Need some guidance. The sholesmod updater Marketplace app claimed I needed an additional app to overclock, or is that incorrect?

You need the SetCPU app to change the degree of overclock. I believe the rom is OC'd to 600 right now.

If I only want the Overclocking for now, I just need to download the SetCPU routine?

No you do need a boot rom to get the clock speed faster than 550Mhz as well as SetCPU.

All right I need both. Are there instructions as how to install and use both of them, plus how to back them out if there are problems?
I may too conservative when installing SU app.

To back out is easily done by restoring a nandroid backup done before making the changes.

I know Adamz at alldroid has posted nandroid files to install the boot rom for overclocking. Once you download the nandroid file from him you perform a nandroid restore but only restore the 'boot' section.

It requires sprecovery 0.99.2b

Then when you open SetCPU you select autodetect and you should be able to select the higher processor speed.

All this info and downloads are here amongst a pile of other stuff: http://alldroid.org/viewtopic.php?f=311&t=1556 near the bottom of the first post.

From that thread:
Instructions to Upgrade/Change your Overclocking Speed and NOTHING ELSE...
(You can switch as often as you want)

1.) Download the version with the clock speed you want...
2.) Place the backup in your "nandroid" folder in your SD Card...
3.) Reboot into Recovery Mode
4.) Choose selection "Backup/Restore"
5.) Select "Advanced Nandroid Restore"
6.) Select "Choose Backup" and select the version with the clock speed you want.
7.) Select the options to Restore ONLY "Boot"... NOTHING ELSE...
8.) Select "Perform Restore"
9.) Wait for SPRecovery to finish... and reboot.

The first time you reboot, it will take a minute or two to boot up. This is normal. The following reboots have actually been MUCH FASTER than normal...

Re: App that roots/OCs/multi-touches and tethers for $5

I removed this app, it said it needed to flash the recovery image to work and that would void my warranty. I really just wanted wifi tether, the overclocking makes no sense as the phone is already very fast. I think I'll just stick with PDAnet for now.

Well, yeah. Technically rooting your phone voids the warranty. I found it amusing that they did that. It only voids the warranty if they find out you rooted it though.
