Re: vibrate and backlit issues
I have noticed my keys vibrating with different intensity from time to time. Not too sure what the deal is though. I turned the tactile feedback for the keyboard off.
As for the backlight issue, do you have a screen protector on your screen? When you hold the phone, do your fingers rest on the top corners of the phone? I ask this becuase the proximity sensor and ambient light sensor are both located in the top corners of the phone and will respond if covered up. Do you have your screen brightness set to "Auto"? I beleive on the lowest brightness setting, the home buttons will not light up, so if you are in a bright area, the phone will pick up on that and turn down the brightness. Worth checking on. As for the lag on the vibrate for the keyboard, I have seen alot of people reccommend the "better keyboard" from the market as an upgrade to the stock virtual keyboard. This may resolve the vibrate intensity issue as well. Have you downloaded the Advanced App Killer? This may help with any lag issues seen. Hope that helps! |

Re: vibrate and backlit issues
No I don't hold the droid from top. I'm not even touching it and the keyboard is off and bottom buttons off. It is random. Like I do have auto brightness on but the backlight keyboard and bottom keys problem seems random. Not when light in room changes. That makes no difference.
I have advance task killer but have nothing running anyway so that's not the problem. Sometimes the only way for me to get the buttons and keyboard to light up is sleep the phone using the top power button then wake it up. I would use swype over any other keyboard but only with stylus. That's the only way I can see. Because the stylus is only using a small tip not like big fingers that cover way more space. We have a touchscreen gps 4.3" screen that's TFT and it dame with a stylus so I am going to see if it will work. The gps is not resistive. So I'll see. Is there anyway to disable google talk from ever running? It's always running when I start the droid and I have to manually kill it. I have no use for it as I will never use google talk. Ever. I have no screen protector. |

Quote:
There are known issues regarding the use of "advanced task killer". "Android is different to most other phone operating systems. It's closer to Linux than any other type of operating system. Lots of services and applications constantly run in the background just like they do on Windows. However, and this is important, they do not have to use up a ton of resources. A service or app can be loaded, yet use almost no additional memory, and 0% CPU until it actually has to do something. In general, killing off stuff is a waste of time. Android automatically asks apps to close that aren't needed when it needs more memory. Killing off some of the processes you are killing off also means it'll slow your phone down, as these processes only need to reload, and when you do need to use them it means the phone will be slower for the few seconds it takes to reload them." ^^^^^Quoted from another forum that I frequent^^^^^ Not sure if the Mods want me to post the name of the other forum so PM me and I'll tell you. But anyways, when I first got my Droid after having several WinMo devices(1st week of Dec) I killed everything with ATK constantly and was having all kinds of trouble such as; random reboots F/C's weird vibrate functions unresponsive apps unresponsive widgets slow GPS fix So after some research I started to see a pattern so I started to ignore items in ATK until I found a stable recipe. The items I have set to ignore are as follows: AudioManager Apps Organizer Advanced Task Killer Alarm Clock Voice Dialer Pure Grid Calendar Settings Battery Left Flip Clock News and Weather Widget Messaging SetCPU Corporate Calendar Voice Search RingGuard Gmail Google Voice Now, I know it goes against conventional wisdom to just let things run in the background, especially coming from a WinMo device, but please believe me when I say you WILL have better performance from your Droid if you ignore these items I have listed. I know you may not have the same Apps as me, but the general rule of thumb I use is; if its widget I use then I ignore it, and if its a data intensive App ie. Voice Search, Voice Dialer then I ignore it. Give it a try (setting ATK to ignore these Apps) and see if your issues are fixed. |

Re: vibrate and backlit issues
What does this have to do with my home lights on bottom not being on always?
I get down to 32mb ram free if I let things alone and atk kill everything which lists 15 things I never touched. No problems ever. Saves me up to 40mb ram or more. I get 120mb free ram sometimes. Better performance when I do this or I don't notice difference. Anyway. When I turn on my droid the home lights are off. So I have to imediatly push the power button on top to shut screen off then back on and the lights light up. They use to be on mostly but sometimes not. |

Re: vibrate and backlit issues
The soft key back lights are tied to the auto-brightness feature. Try this>set brightness to auto>in a normal lighting situation place you finger over the red dot near the notification light>wait for the screen to dim>the back lights should come on.
