Question Favorites - why does the Favorite's list automatically fill up ?

Also - why do all Contacts / numbers that you call (or receive a call from) show up automatically as Favorites?

There's no way to remove them from the Favorites list either (if you long press on a contact under Favorites , there's an option to Delete them - but this deletes the actual contact, not just removes them from the Favorites list) ?

If you long press a contact under Favorites you can also add them as a Favorite - but that makes no sense as they are already in the favorites list! I want to simply REMOVE them from the favorites list!

Why does the Droid add every contact that you call or receive a call from as a Favorite automatically? Shouldn't the Favorite's be something that YOU add ?

Thanks for any help in explaining this or showing me what I'm missing out on (on my wife's Eris, here "faves" are BLANK until she adds a contact to her Favorite's, this makes sense) .

Re: Favorites - why does the Favorite's list automatically fill up ?

Ok, I see a little more now:

I long pressed on one of the MANY contacts listed under my favorites (from all of the contacts that i have called or received a call from that were automatically placed in the favorites list) - I chose to add to favorites (even though they were under the fave's already) ...

Then the contact chosen as added to the Top of the Favorites list - with all of the others that were auto-added under the newly designated Favorite (manually designated) with all of the others (auto-added) now listed as "Frequently Called" .

This makes more sense but my Favorites list is still essentially "full of contacts" - just that the ones I designate as a Fave show up 1st , so if I only want 3 contacts in my Fave's for instance - the list will still have a ton of contacts since it adds all contacts every called to the "Frequently Called" list that's below the Favorites!

Is there any way to make the Favorites list only show those contacts that you want designated as a Favorite regardless if you called a contact in the past or not?

Now I think I'm really seeing why so many folks like the Sense UI by HTC, my wife's Eris with more screens and other features (Music controls w/o unlocking the phone) are really shining over the Droid which seems sorta clunky, maybe it's just me.

I guess the Nexus One doesn't have HTC's Sense UI, so maybe I should wait for a HTC similar to the Nexus One with Sense UI (like the Eris but with a larger screen , better video recording , faster processor) .....

Unless there's an easy way to setup the Faves (with just the few contacts you would like) with the Droid , access Music Controls w/o unlocking the Droid - in other words, maybe there are ways to do these things like I can on the Eris but I'm just not finding them (i don't know much about phones obviously so all of this is new to me & I'm spending way more time than i ever expected, these phones are addictive, hehe).

Thanks!

I also have been trying to figure out how to clear the "Frequently called" numbers from the Favorites list. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: Favorites - why does the Favorite's list automatically fill up ?

Wow I'm glad I am not alone (just missing something obvious).

My wife has the Eris - while it's slow there's lots of things I much prefer over the Droid - I didn't think the Sense UI deal was a big deal - but really it's nice (the pinch and zoom when looking at pictures is nice , same for stock browser , the Fave's list is much better , music controls when phone is locked are avail and a bit more of other "goodies" like more home screens.....) .

Maybe 2.1 - the next Droid update will change the Favorites layout ?

Thanks,
Yes, I'm having the same issue... Its highly annoying that calls would be placed under "favorites" just because they are recently called.

Even worse, while you can clear the Call Log using the menu or context actions, there is no way to clear the "frequently called" portion of the favorites on the Nexus One. The contacts are not starred!!

Google needs to address this in an android patch, or else someone should write a utility that purges the list.
