You would have to install a patched version manually, much like the update that you applied to get root to begin with.

Why donate to one person, when you can support the site that makes it all possible instead

Re: How-To: Root your Droid

I am totally confused at this point. I have read OP and Post #2 several times and still am unsure of anything. So this is what i have done. I have installed the Droid Boot Helper, Tools folder to sdcard and all other required. I then began the steps according to the app. My problem is i have installed the Skull theme and was successful in getting the default theme back, however the freaking Skull animated boot screen is still there.

Also am i suppose to do a back up of my system before i start everything else so i have a good copy of the stock system, so if i need to go back to factory i can. I am very confused. Pleas help!

Drocap2 for the Screen shots. Available in the market.

The gray bar in the screen shots is part of the skin that he is using. You should be able to install with Droid Root Helper.

Re: Howto: Root your droid

Thanks for putting this all in one place, parkjam! I just picked up my droid yesterday and want to get a little more used to it before I root, but I will definitely be following this thread.

Re: How-To: Root your Droid

ya.....I ain't ready to root yet either, but I'll be watchin'.

Questions:
1.) How to tell what ver rom this droid is currently on?
2.) Why block OTA updates?

Re: How-To: Root your Droid

The version info is in "about Phone" under the settings menu.
If your phone is rooted you would want to stop OTA updates to keep it from unrooting your phone. It wouldnt hurt anything to let the OTA update through, you just wouldnt be rooted anymore.

Yeah, not the norm for sure lol. Out of the 360 guys on my dept. there are only about 20 of us really into the tech stuff. I spend a lot of time at work showing everyone else how to get the most out of their phones.
