ProClip Droid Holder Now in Stock

FYI, ProClip (proclipusa.com) is now selling Droid holders. If you are not familar, ProClip makes automobile mounting systems. They are a bit pricey but the result is nice customized look that I certainly prefer over the suction cup mounts. You purchase a two-part system. One part is customized for your car and the other for your device. This makes it nice if you switch phones faster than you switch cars as I'm now on my third device for the same car and I only have to purchase the new device holder and screw it into my car mount. I suppose the same would hold true if you switched cars faster than phones.

Anyway their email announcement said they have "limited" stock currently then more stock on 12/11. Then in January they hope to release the model that has a built-in charger.

Do you know if it has a magnet on it?

And what's this about a built in charger later? Means you have to rebuy the device holder?

EDIT: I emailed them and got this back.

Our holders don’t have the magnets to activate the Motorola Droid into the car navigation mode. The reason behind this is that we want our customers to have the option to use all the other applications on the phone as well, while it is placed in our holder.

Re: ProClip Droid Holder Now in Stock

You got the answer on the magnets and I think they're right about not forcing the car mode on. You can easily add it to your home screen if you need it.

I've found that the forced modes just get in the way. It's always like no time at all that I want to go to an app not on those simplified modes such as messaging or email or whatever so you have to locate the house icon to get to the real home screen,. Then you hit home to get out of the app and you are stuck back in the forced mode only to have to find the house icon again. I really would like to turn off the forced mode on my home dock. I like charging it using the home dock but I hate that forced multimedia page.

I happen to have a car charger already so I'm good to go with the holder w/o charger. Others may want to only have the combo charger/holder and they would want to wait until January unless, like you said, you want to buy two holders.
