One part is customized for your car and the other for your device. This makes it nice if you switch phones faster than you switch cars as I'm now on my third device for the same car and I only have to purchase the new device holder and screw it into my car mount. I suppose the same would hold true if you switched cars faster than phones.

Anyway their email announcement said they have "limited" stock currently then more stock on 12/11. Then in January they hope to release the model that has a built-in charger.
Do you know if it has a magnet on it?

And what's this about a built in charger later? Means you have to rebuy the device holder?

EDIT: I emailed them and got this back.

Our holders don’t have the magnets to activate the Motorola Droid into the car navigation mode. The reason behind this is that we want our customers to have the option to use all the other applications on the phone as well, while it is placed in our holder.
