Fathom Roll Call

Hope to get mine next week... Was not my first choice but it is for my work and it was the only wm free upgrade phone. I am just tired of my Omnia i910 and the touchscreen is starting to crap out on it. I look forward to trying out my fathom and seeing what it can and can't do. I'm sure I'll be around here alot.

I didn't know that there was a thread to request new forums. I've been appending to every post with LG Fathom in it "Why don't we have our own forum yet"
Anyways Thank goodness for this because i've been trying to figure out how to do many things for quite some time
Anywho I really do like this phone, It's bare and doesn't really offer anything too fancy, and thank goodness for the rather clean oem rom, but what matters to me is the 1ghz snapdragon making this thing a reasonably fast winmo 6.5 phone that's still high res, small, and has a hardware keyboard! Though the 256 mb of ram is a bit low, i'm sure with tweaking and custom roms we can get places

Speaking of which, I haven't really been one to figure out tweaks for all these years at ppcgeeks, but I think I may have discovered how to bypass that damn powermobia arcsoft messaging app

I got mine a few weeks after it came out... then the phone speaker died... had it replaced, now im stuck in the hell that some people with the "like new" replacement are stuck in. the phone will not update to the newest official LG rom.

however, this is a great phone even with out the update... the QWERTY keyboard sold me across the board. lol

Fathom user since July here, just found out about this forum a couple of weeks ago, which is how I also made sure to upgrade to v7 of the software (so much better than the previous version!). Had a brief issue with the speaker early on, but it was working just fine until a few minutes ago, so hopefully I'll still have this phone for the while...

I got mine in October as an Asurion replacement for my beloved HTC TP2 (R.I.P). I honestly haven't used it that much, and have to say, so far I still miss my TP2, however, I DO think LG did a good job. It does seem that they have it locked up a bit more than HTC did theirs. I actually have been running a Samsung Fascinate with Android, and most of my time has been spent tweaking and fighting with that device. I do plan on spending some more time with this one, and am glad to see some interest here in PPCG!

I just received a VS750 this morning.

Can I confirm the status of getting a custom ROM?

From what I understand, we are hung up at the point of extracting the WDB file?

In addition, we have the the RAW dumps (Part00, Part01, etc etc), but without the DZ we wouldn't be able to create a custom ROM?

I looked through my kitchen and it appears that from the RAW dumps we get boot.bin, xip.bin and IMGFS.bin, but without the DZ we are missing all of the MBN files (amss.mbn, apps,mbn, etc etc).

Does this about sum it up? Until we figure out how to extract the files from a WDB we are out of luck?
